The attached image shows the forthcoming IRL2003 carset from the Smoking Pen. The set shown below is the GP3 1.13 version, but the GP3-2000 set will feature 22 cars of the 2003 season and all of the drivers. Liveries are those from the Indy 500. Team arts for both GP3 1.13 and GP3-2000 will also be available.
The carset is done, I'm just waiting on the Texas race so that I can give you a

Grand Prix 3 New at The Smoking Pen's GP3 pages are the ChampCar carsets for the Toronto and Vancouver races - these are for Gp3 original only, as GP3-2000 racers will have to wait for a 5-race update pack once I get to the Montreal update.
In the meantime, the entire 2002 ChampCar season set for GP3-2000 has been rereleased as a single, colossal 11MB download.
Work has been slow on the ChampCar update

Grand Prix 3 New at The Smoking Pen's GP3 Pages is a veritable cornucopia of delights....
The CART carset Portland & Cleveland GP3 Editions are released, including Sebastien Bourdais' MacDonalds car from Cleveland, (see image below);
The GP3-2000 Season 2003 CART carset is released, featuring all races up to and including Cleveland, together with Team Arts; and

Grand Prix 3 New on my GP3 pages are the Milwaukee Mile and Laguna Seca editions of the 2003 ChampCar carsets. Next up, in a couple of weeks, will be the Portland update, which will also mark the release of the GP3-2000 season set, covering all the races from St Petersburg to Portland. I have some good stuff planned for the coming weeks, so watch this space.
In the meantime.....

Grand Prix 3 New at The Smoking Pen's GP3 Pages are the Brands Hatch and Lausitz editions of the 2003 ChampCar carset for GP3, as well as the Long Beach edition I released last week.
The Lausitz update features the car below, with Memo Gidley stepping aside for one race in favour of Alex Zanardi. Zanardi's performance data was derived from his actual laptimes at Lausitz this year and the boy does

Grand Prix 3 From my own experience, a freeze on the Frentzen picture is a CC-line related problem - as daveb says, remove the existing CC-line and it should work.
A simple crash to desk if the sanity check passes can be related to no magic data - are you putting some magic data with a short enough bumptable in the track using C-magic before trying to run it?
Any more complex questions, try the Track Editor

Grand Prix 3 The second of my 2003 ChampCar carsets for GP3 is now available at my CART 2003 page, oddly enough for the second race of the season, the Tecate Telmex Monterrey Grand Prix. This is, once again, GP3 only - the GP3-2000 set will be released in the near future, with all races up to as far as I've got with the GP3 sets.
Also new are additional GP3 team arts for those who prefer Alex Tagliani

Grand Prix 3 Well, I guess you guys were ready - 115 downloads of the cars in the first 24 hours and that's just posting about it here.
Comissario - the other cars will feature in the GP3-2000 set and (the real ones) will feature in the race sets whenever e.g. Tiago Montiero outperforms Michel Jourdain Jr.

Grand Prix 3 There will be an IndyCar set for 2003 - one set of liveries, (those from the Indy 500), but performance files for each race. Coming soon...ish!

Grand Prix 3 All new on my CART 2003 Page is the first GP3 carset for the 2003 ChampCars, the St Petersburg edition. Also available are the Team Arts for the cars, slightly forward looking with the inclusion of Alex Yoong in place of Roberto Gonzalez - but who can keep up with Dale Coyne's rotating drivers anyway?
GP3-2000 players will have to wait a while, until I get the GP3-2000 set up and running.

Grand Prix 3 I know it's been a while coming, but I'm nearly ready to release the first of my 2003 CART carsets. In previous years, I've released an A & B carset, to cater for the differing liveries, with updates. This year, there will bo one GP3 carset for each race, featuring the more successful of the two cars in each team or pairing - for example, if Bruno Junqueira finishes ahead of

Grand Prix 3 Sat down tonight to watch the "broadcast" of the Milwaukee ChampCar race - or at least the hour long edited highlights that Eurosport deigned to give us, only to fast forward through 33 minutes of bleedin' tennis before finally getting to the racing. Which meant, of course, that I had lost the 27 minutes at the end!
When I realised that they hadn't broadcast Jeremy Shaw and

F1 The 2003 CART carset is well underway, but is a long way off finished - too many teams with all-new liveries, (too many all new teams with obscure sponsors as well). Thank heavens for Players, Fernandez and Herdez being substantially the same. The carset is receiving my (almost) undivided attention when I get spare time, but don't go holding your breath for an early release.

Grand Prix 3 Sounds to me like you haven't installed the software jams for the carset you're using. When you're running in HW mode, GP3-2000 uses the helmet software jams to draw the cars at a distance. If you don't have the SW helmets installed, you get exactly the kind of problem you describe.

Grand Prix 3 In GP3, there was only one carskin per team, and the game mapped the numbers in the car bitmap. When Gp3-2000 was released, the game had different bitmaps for the McLaren cars and Marc Aarts soon realised that it was possible to have two skins per team - hence why the Gp3-2000 carsets have two per team, which is very useful for CART and IRL series carsets!

Grand Prix 3 I have experienced this problem with my GP3-2000 sets when putting them together. It's something to do with the system not finding the tyre bitmaps it's expecting in the software jams folders. I'd suggest reinstalling your gp3jam and gp3jamh directories from the GP3 CD, to reset the system to how it should be, to see if that cures the problem.

Grand Prix 3 To Jackie - I'm working off the principle that if they can kick MY behind at my level of proficiency, then they should be able to do it at any level. Yes, I know it's a sorry admission, but I play at semi-pro level - too much time making carsets and tracks and not enough time racing the former on the latter. As for the 2002 times - the track was criticised for being extremely slippery

Grand Prix 3 Work is all but complete on my Miami circuit and there are now some screenshots posted on the Tracks Page on my website.
The only problem I've got is that the CC cars on the line used for the screenshots are too darn slow!! They're managing the lap in just over a minute at semi-pro level, whereas your Pen in managing it in 54 seconds - mind you, I'm a bit of a speedster in Monaco

Grand Prix 3 A simple enough question - last year, I did CART, IRL and F3000. This year, it would be easy enough to drop F3000 and do F1. Question is, with some people on this forum already producing car images etc., do people want a Smoking Pen F1 2003 carset?
Let me know.

Grand Prix 3 And I go to so much trouble to make a nice, set-specific background for every carset!
However, I'm not sure it's the background that's your problem - that shouldn't cause the game to crash. From bitter experience, I'd check:
That you haven't altered the wheel jams from ones you know work in GP3-2000 - might seem odd, but they cause me some real headaches

Grand Prix 3 The CART 2002 carset may be complicated, but what you have to do is look at the Default directory as being the "base". The IRL GP3-2K and F3000 GP3-2K carsets are just that - one performance file and one set of .jam files.
You wanted an idiot's guide - well, I'm not saying that this is that, but what you can do is start with a GP3 carset in GP3Edit. Export that to your GP3

Grand Prix 3 Just download the decrypted .exe file from a website that has it - overwrite your GP3.exe file and everything works.
I'm running XP and apart from a few minor graphic problems, (no loading screens, no start lights in the little box in the top corner, etc.), bpth GP3 and GP3-2000 run superbly.

Grand Prix 3 Like andrew_S says, there are some great carsets for other years, if you hunt around. Through a combination of the Skunk Works, Bojan Tarticchio's solo work and the stuff available through Emac, (Jan Frisckhorn as well as Ralph Hummerich), you can get some really good carsets.
With my '88 and '89 sets, I now have some nice carsets stretching from '85, (which I'm racing

Grand Prix 3 New at The Smoking Pen's GP3 pages is a 1989 Formula 1 carset. I know someone else has released a 1989 carset over the last few days, but I've been working on this for a couple of months and it's just unfortunate timing. And yes, I know, I do "all that American stuff", but I still enjoy F1 as well and my 1988 carset has been a consistent download over the last year.

Grand Prix 3 Your Pen has been doodling on and off for a few months and has a 1989 carset all but done - for which read, the Williams needs finishing and I haven't done the pitboxes.
