I will confess that I hadn't run a 100% race before releasing the circuit, so I hadn't seen the sky go out - that said, the sky goes black well after 100 laps on my machine.
I'm pretty sure that there's nothing I can do about it - you want the extra laps, you'll have to do without the sky. That said, I did read somewhere that they might be running the Milwaukee race und

Grand Prix 3 As promised not too long ago, I have update the Milwaukee Mile track available on The Smoking Pen's tracks page.
The updates are:
* All-new CC-line
* Updated Magic Data for the CC-cars
* Increased number of laps - now 125 laps as 100% race distance
* Pitstop window altered to reflect the 70 lap mandatory window run in the 2002 race
* Added a GP3-2000 version in both the Hardware and Softwa

Grand Prix 3 Before this gets totally out of hand......
The track I referred to recently was the Bayfront circuit used by CART for the Grand Prix Americas - the Miami Street circuit. That will be the next all-new track from the Smoking Pen.
But..
I do have all of the IRL tracks in some form or other, even if it's very basic. Unfortunately, what I don't have is good coverage of the tracks - the

Grand Prix 3 The Mexico City update for the CART Season 2002 carset is now available at The Smoking Pen's GP3 pages, rounding out the season 2002 with less than a month to go to Spring Training for the 2003 season!
Enjoy and farewell to 2002,

Grand Prix 3 The CART updates for 2002 approach their inevitable conclusion with the release of the penultimate sets for GP3 and GP3-2000, for the 500 presented by Toyota at Fontana, the fastest ever race, (or so CART claim, IIRC), all at The Smoking Pen's GP3 pages. Your Pen hopes to have the Mexico update released in the first week of January, if not before.
This has all taken longer than I thought a

Grand Prix 3 Available now at The Smoking Pen's GP3 Pages is the Surfer's Paradise update for the CART 2002 carset, available for both GP3 and GP3-2000.
Work will be starting soon on the Fontana update, as I look to round out the season before Christmas. I've decided to have a go at making the Miami street circuit as my next track project, so watch this space.

Grand Prix 3 I've just treated myself to an early Christmas present in the form of a brand spanking new Windows XP PC with P4 2.66GHz processor, 256MB RAM and GeForce4 with 128MB of on-board RAM, (well, the new Mrs Pen wants me to do some video editing, so of course, I needed a new computer for that....)
I've installed GP3 and GP3-2000, although not without a fight - I've ended up running GP3

Grand Prix 3 The Miami update for the CART 2002 season is now available in both GP3 and GP3-2000 flavours at The Smoking Pen's GP3 pages. Work is already underway on the Surfer's Paradise update and I hope to have the whole season finished quite soon.
But then what? Well, your Pen will be partnering Nelson Piquet as we go in search of glory through the 1988 F1 season, but when I'm not racing

Grand Prix 3 After a little wait, the CART updates for 2002 resume with the release of the Rockingham update at The Smoking Pen's GP3 Pages. The set features the Team St George livery, with Darren Manning's #19 car replacing the second Herdez car, and the NT liveries for Team Green and Players, as well as the updates on the other cars.
The other updates will follow shortly, once I've enjoyed

Grand Prix 3 Your Pen is proud to announce that the long-promised IRL Season 2002 carset is now available at The Smoking Pen's GP3 Pages, featuring two series for GP3, with all the usual trimmings and two matching team arts sets.
The whole shooting match gets rolled into one with all 22 cars available in the GP3-2000 version, for which team arts are again available. All in all, just short of 11MB of do

Grand Prix 3 Work has temporarily been suspended on the CART 2002 updates, but I will be returning to them very shortly, after I have finsihed the IRL 2002 carset that I've been chunnering on about for ages. It's nearly done and to prove it, I've attached the preview shots as far as they're done. Missing are the Team Cheever cars, as well as the Team Menard and Pennzoil Panther cars.

Grand Prix 3 New at The Smoking Pen's GP3 Pages is the Denver update for the CART 2002 carset. Your Pen had some fun doing Scott Dixon's new car, an image of which should appear below, (made a change from just checking that the sponsors on each panel hadn't changed) and more fun beckons with the Rockingham update. Your Pen prowled the pitlane, digital camera in hand, to get some great close-u

Grand Prix 3 The CART 2002 carset receives another update with the release of the Montreal livery changes on the Smoking Pen's GP3 Pages. I'll be moving on to Denver now, which differs from the previous updates in that there's a completely new livery for Scott Dixon to stop your Pen's mind from going numb trying to spot if there's a new sponsor anywhere on any car. Then on to Rockin

Grand Prix 3 The F3000 and IRL seasons may be over, but the CART boys are still going strong and so is your Pen. The spot-the-difference contest that is the Elkhart Lake update is now available at The Smoking Pen's GP3 CART 2002 page, as is a minor revision to the Mid-Ohio set - correcting an error on Bruno Junquiera's car in the Series A for Gp3 set and adding the performance data to the GP3-2000 u

Grand Prix 3 It's a function of the much lower bhp that the real F3000 cars have - they're simply slower off the line. Once you're going, they do seem to be reasonably competitive - or maybe I'm just not that good a driver! )
I don't know that there's an easy answer to this one - certainly an F3000 set of tracks with modified magic data might be the answer, if someone wants to

Grand Prix 3 Available now at The Smoking Pen's GP3 Pages is my Season 2002 F3000 carset, with all the usual trimmings and available in both GP3 and GP3-2000 forms.
Team art for the original GP3 is available now - the GP3 2000 set should be finished by the weekend and available then.
Now there were only 10 teams fighting it out this year for the International F3000 Championship, so what's a Pen t

Grand Prix 3 Just to prove that your Pen has not been pulling your legs, I've attached a link to the preview graphic for the forthcoming F3000 carset - it should be released early next week, once I've integrated the final race results into the performance data. The carset itself will be available for GP3 and GP3-2000, but the only the team art for GP3 will be available immediately.

Grand Prix 3 I'm working on an F3000 carset for season 2002 - but with a 20 car grid, there will be an 11th team featuring Justin Wilson and Baz Leinders. Hopefully, I will have it available shortly after Monza for both Gp3 and Gp3-2K. Team art for Gp3 will be available first, then for Gp3-2K later,

Grand Prix 3 Yep, it's me again. Gotta get a life, I tell you. Anyway, this will be the last update for a while, as I'm on holiday next week and computer-free. Might squeeze out Mid-Ohio before Rockingham, but I'm going to see the boys in action on September 14, so there won't be much virtual racing that weekend either.
Oh, yes, nearly forgot - the Vancouver update is available on the

Grand Prix 3 It will be a while before the IRL carset is available, not least because I haven't finalised which 22 cars it will have!! The Penske boys are a given, as are Team Cheever and the Kelley cars, but I won't leave out any winner or polesitter, so the final lineup won't be known until the season ends.
The basic Dallara and G-Force templates are done, as are some of the helmets, (littl

Grand Prix 3 Yet another update from your Pen is now available on my site at www.pedmonds.f9.co.uk - the GP3 updates include all the files necessary for Cleveland that were in previous races, but the GP3-2K version only has the new files and requires the previous updates to work correctly.

Grand Prix 3 Bazza - in a word, no. GP4 kept crashing on my machine and required a driver update for my video card, which not only asked me to configure the GP4 graphics every time, but also transferred the same problem to GP3 and GP3-2000.
Also, from what I've seen reported, GP4 maps some cars without using the whole bitmap, which means that doing a car that's markedly different, (as opposed to u
