F3000 carset released

Available now at The Smoking Pen's GP3 Pages is my Season 2002 F3000 carset, with all the usual trimmings and available in both GP3 and GP3-2000 forms.

Team art for the original GP3 is available now - the GP3 2000 set should be finished by the weekend and available then.

Now there were only 10 teams fighting it out this year for the International F3000 Championship, so what's a Pen to do? The answer is - create his own team, so Justin Wilson and Bas Leinders return to fight another day as the pilots for Team Pen Racing, with it's own very distinctive green livery. Why bright green - well, my first car was a Bedford Viva van that, believe it or not, was that colour.

Great stuff Paul, as usual.

Only one thing, I seem to have a little problem with the performance of this F3000 carset.
Even on ACE level, I can easily pull away from the line and at the end of lap one, I'll be like 10 seconds ahead of anybody else.

Any suggestions???

That's cos the computer cars are setup like F1 cars. But they don't have that much bhp, so they only reach 5th gear and are not too quick out of corners.

How can I solve the problem???

Doesn't that have anything to do with magicdata?

You can also change the setup of computer cars in the track editor. You could change the gear settings and save the tracks under another name. Just add F3000 at the end of the filename or something.

I still don't understand.
I thought of changing the performance files of the carset.
Would that work???

If you change the performance, it would be like driving F1 again, and the object is to drive F3000.

If you don't mind to drive F3000 at F1 speeds, go ahead: it's the easiest way.

Without it checked I was way in front after the first lap too.

Still, a good carset though!

It's a function of the much lower bhp that the real F3000 cars have - they're simply slower off the line. Once you're going, they do seem to be reasonably competitive - or maybe I'm just not that good a driver! )

I don't know that there's an easy answer to this one - certainly an F3000 set of tracks with modified magic data might be the answer, if someone wants to give it a go?

I haven't played GP3 for a while, but I think you can possibly change something to do with the gear ratios in the performance file. If you change the final drive ratio(?) and get it optimized so that the CC cars just reach top speed in 6th gear at the end of the straights, then the problem should be sorted. I think this works, because I remember having the same problem with the CART performance file I used to use, and vaguely remember how I sorted it.
