Miami CART update done, but what next for your Pen?

The Miami update for the CART 2002 season is now available in both GP3 and GP3-2000 flavours at The Smoking Pen's GP3 pages. Work is already underway on the Surfer's Paradise update and I hope to have the whole season finished quite soon.

But then what? Well, your Pen will be partnering Nelson Piquet as we go in search of glory through the 1988 F1 season, but when I'm not racing, I will need something to keep me occupied......

I have pretty much all the IRL ovals in a basic form, (no objects, no scenery), but I wondered about having a crack at the CART Miami or Denver street circuits. Any preferences as to what people want?

The Pen

irl would be cool, there's a lot of irl tracks not avalible, i can get by with only a few cart ones missing.

but you should rest and race first.

I agree with that, ovals next please...

But I you decide to crack the other tracks, I'd say Denver, or even an update for the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. As we saw on Sky, all the drivers agreed it's Tip-top.

Only a suggestion!

Sorry if I ask silly questions, but is there a CART update for GP3 2000 that has different liveries for one team? Like one Team Green car in green the other in blue? I couldn't find one, but maybe I am just a moron. Thx for your help.

Yes Vader, it's on the Pen's website, under the CART 2002 section.

Hm, I installed it, but it has only one livery for each team. Or did the changes in liveries came later in the season?

No, they should be on from race one!
I downloaded it and installed on GP3 2000 a few months ago. I got bored of it, as not many CART tracks are available for GP3 2000 and , as we all know, GP3 is a hell of a lot more editable that the add-on, so you miss half of the fun.
I don't even have GP3 2000 installed on my machine anymore and I still think it was a waste of money at the time.
It should never have been called GP3 2000, it should have been called GP3 1/2.
Only my opinion...

You can easily turn GP3 tracks into Gp3 2000 tracks. Just insert magic data 2000.

I know, but that's not all; carshapes, sounds, graphics, etc,etc...

Anyway, enough about me, it's your carset working proper now?

carshapes is no problem either.

You simply take CarEditor 3.7 and open the gp3 shape you want to use for the addon. -->

- Go to "File/Export CTF" and save the file as "custom.ctf"
- load any working shape.
- Go to "File/Import CTF" and import the "custom.ctf" to the shape.
- now the working shape should look like the shape that
crashes
- save carshape

Nice one!

I'm actually thinking about re-installing GP3 2000...

How about sounds???
The one I'm using at the moment with Paul Edmonds 2002 CART carset, comes from Starchild's website. It's from a GTO and it rocks. How can I use it in GP3 2000?

If it has the right sound format (sample rate, etc) you can just point GpxPatch gently into its position. If it's in another format, you need an audio tool to convert it.
You can also take the original sound load it into an audio tool (Cool Eduit demo, for example) and lower the pitch a bit, since CART does not rev as high as F1 cars.

Thanks for that information Vader, I really appreciate it...
But I'm just a lazy Spanish git and to be honest, too much hazzle!
I rather just stick to my siestas and carry on playing GP3

I think someone already has made this track. I remember I had all CART tracks last year.

Sorry guys, can't comment!!!
I only get that problem with Michigan Speedway, on the main straightaway and for only just a few seconds...
What I seem to have a bit of a problem, is with Daytona (Oval version) from Roman Mika; Fine for a few laps, but after lap 5 or so, no matter what I do, or how I set the car up, the minute I get to the turn after the back strech... the back stars sliding away from me and I end up on the wall.
Every-single time!
Any suggestions???
