Not another 1989 carset!

New at The Smoking Pen's GP3 pages is a 1989 Formula 1 carset. I know someone else has released a 1989 carset over the last few days, but I've been working on this for a couple of months and it's just unfortunate timing. And yes, I know, I do "all that American stuff", but I still enjoy F1 as well and my 1988 carset has been a consistent download over the last year.

So available now is the carset you can see in the graphic below, complete with all the usual trimmings and team arts. This is GP3 only - I have no plans to produce a Gp3-2000 version.

I'm currently working my Nazareth track, to try and eliminate the pitstop crashes - I'm nearly there, but just now need a way to stop them crashing on the back straight. Still, it's progress!! Work will be underway in earnest on Miami soon, but you are likely to see at least one other before mine is done, as I know Hernan Viglione is working on one.

And it's Spring Training and the Test In The West next week........

Never mind, they're both ****-hot!It's also nice to see GP3 is not neglected and the downloads are fewer and far between but the quality gets better and better!Cheers guys!

If Paul keeps up this great work we can soon simulate our own career on GP3 like that new mod for F1 2002, except this could start from 88.

Nice work as usual Paul.

If you use (the also fantastic) emac stuff, your can start your career in 1996.

Huh?
How can you do that in F1 2002 when it has virtually no CART, IRL or earlier F1 circuits? Did F1 2002 suddenly acquire a couple of hundred or so addon tracks overnight, while I wasn't looking, to rival Grand Prix 3 in that department?

try skunk works set, the best 80s-90s sets around (apart from the one above which is same standard)

Like andrew_S says, there are some great carsets for other years, if you hunt around. Through a combination of the Skunk Works, Bojan Tarticchio's solo work and the stuff available through Emac, (Jan Frisckhorn as well as Ralph Hummerich), you can get some really good carsets.

With my '88 and '89 sets, I now have some nice carsets stretching from '85, (which I'm racing at the moment), to 2002, with two exceptions - 1992 and 1995 have so far eluded me. So when I get round next to thinking about an F1 carset, it'll be 1992.

Paul, there is a 95 carset albeit not to the high standard of the others and there's no menuarts yet - something I can live without(or pitcrews).I've updated my version with a couple of single cars(Hugo Lacharite's I think??) and made a couple of cosmetic changes - will mail it to you if you want. Decent 83 and 84 sets are missing from my collection but would love to see a 92 set first! Then I'm sorted for 81-2002!

It's exactly wot I did. the 1989 set, with full menu/team arts, and the superb late 80's cockpit, with wheel, analogue dials and stuff.

Nice work Smoking Pen. Beautiful looking carset.

It's a bit like waiting for a bus, and then 2 come along at the same time!

It's nice to see a fantastic era of F1 being represented so well. As I mentioned in the L Thomas thread; Any chance of a 1989 or 1990 F3000 carset?(Pleeeeeeeeeease!!!)
