The Official Hungarian Grand Prix 2009 Thread **SPOILERS**

Posted by EC83
I was imagining a windshield just at the front, not at the sides. That would mean that it would still be relatively easy to get out of the car.

It was the camera mounted to the rear wing of, ironically, Alesi's car. It fell off coming out of Curve Grande and destroyed Berger's front suspension.

Not Ferrari's race (or era even). They were 1-2 at that point, and Alesi retired near the end when a bearing broke in one of his rear wheels. The bloke never seemed to have any luck at Monza, despite always looking incredibly strong there, regardless of what car he was in.

//edit: Berger wasn't exactly full of luck there either with big crashes in '93 and 94 of course. They didn't make it easy for the Tifosi!

In front, yes. But with a windshield, visibily will maybe be a problem. Drivers have tear-off on the helmet, for the windshield, it's another matter when it become dirty :-s.

That is good news, and straight from the horse's mouth. Or, the horse's brother's mouth, by proxy.

Let's hope we get more news tomorrow, and let's hope it continues to be positive :)

Man, I wouldn't want to be Rubens today, imagine that one of his personal friends died this way 15 years ago, and now some similar thing happen again with another of his friends (hopefully wihtout major damage) but caused by a piece of his (rubens) own car, prolly at the heat of the moment he had all those memories back.
I wonder whether this incident will make Barrichello decide that he will retire this year. It wouldn't surprise me one bit.

Assuming Felipe makes a full recovery, you'd have to wonder if it might have a similar impact on him - what with expecting a child later in the year.

Well... Felipe is in coma... it maks remember me 1994/95 Monaco GP, Karl Wendliger (possibly i wrote his surname badly :)) was 2 weeks in coma and then recovered and back to racing...

It's called Le Mans.

Seriously, these things are just bad luck, it isn't like objects can now aim at the head or something, it's just coincedence that it happens twice in a week.

I'm not saying that I'd like to see a windshield on an F1 car, but I think they might consider it after drivers were talking about improving safety further today.

I dont know but why ferrari won't put a test driver in for the race... sure there is no testing left... and gp2 drivers can't race f1 in the same weekend; but they might be able to pick points anyway
anyway massa's season might just be over for his own safety
so Badoer would be in
I dont think that would be disrespectful to massa

If you want to do that you would change the face of formula cars, and like said, making a windshield or something would be very hard for the driver getting out on time, you would have to make doors in it, and you would end up with le mans like formula cars :P

I think the rule says that the replacing driver must have done at least one free practice during a GP week-end.

You can only put in another driver before qualifying, during or after qualifying you can't anymore.

i don't want to seem like a wet blanket, but right now i doubt that Ferrari are going to announce anything regarding Massa's replacement without getting a better evaluation of his condition

the next few hours are still very important, so right now my thoughts are with Massa only and any talk of replacements is secondary

look at Ferrari 312T from 1975

what about something like that?

The next few hours are just as important and maybe even more important than the operation was. I'm really hoping for good news in the morning.

ok they have lots of time to think about the eventual replacement then
really I think he is gonna be o.k. no doubt
the only thing to hope for is that he doesn't have any brain damage
