So Alonso can understand how Kimi felt all last season.
I will miss Kimi :(.

To Kimi... "You were the Chosen One! It was said that you would destroy the Sith, not join them. It was you who would bring balance to the Force, not leave it in Darkness"

I'm impressed how Massa is a childish idiot who can't admit he made a mistake. He got it wrong at Parabolica and lost the pole, as simple as that.

LOL, true...but I don't think it'll happen too much next year...unless they decide to go Honda and put a new engine for next year at the last races of this season. This year's engine seem to be OK.

I also am thinking that Kimi will get number 0 next year, no? If Schumi is champion of course.

Yes, if you drive the championship winning car, but you are not the WDC, you get number 0.

It's only after we've lost everything, that we are free to do anything.

yes it maybe wont happend because of the engine freeze rule.

Well, well, well.
Robert Kubica came third, which is an extraordinary achievement in his third race ever.

I wish he drove for a better team than BMW Sauber.

Kimi goes to Ferrari so McLaren has a potentially free vacancy for the Pole.

I am a Pole, too, so you can understand my emotions.

Hamilton will test McLaren at Silverstone and maybe at Jerez too so there is a very big chance that he will take Kimi's place after the this season.

he totally catch my eyes today

good to see alonso's DNF
(sorry for his fans, but i stand by kimi)
but for kimi....
he's fast, in front of MS
but after a pit, he cant catch up anymore
the ferrari is unbelieveable this year
is ron dennis use the wrong "Dennis" engine??
(Dennis, the UK bus company)
disappointed to lose an other race for kimi
and sad to hear the leave of MS....

As much as I do think it was a great performance, Ralf Schumacher and Alex Wurz both also got a podium after only 3 races and despite being good drivers neither have set the world alight.

Well done to Robert though, I was glad to see he finished 3rd.

our prayers were answered for Alonso's retirement, YAY!!!

and they had to go for a break just when it happened...noobs

and it was good they let FA off for cutting the chicane, he got his payback for the stupid penalty from qualli.

and is it true they just dropped him 5 places? cos i read that it was his 3 best laps that got deleted, meaning he ended up 10th.

and Kubica impressed me a lot, i'm happy for him.

and could anyone understand 1 word of what Flavio said in any of his interviews? nice of him to say he won't miss MS. when dodgy stuff happened with MS at Benetton, he (Flav) was on his side, but now it's against him, he's against MS, but i guess that's just the fickle world of F1. you can't blame him really.

funny how MS wouldn't say who will be his replacement in th press conference, when Massa and Brawn already admitted it was Kimi in the interviews. nice of MS to say he was happy with the choice from when he knew about it though.

RIP Jules, never to be forgotten. #KeepFightingMichael

Sad to see so many people happy that Alonso retired in the race, he drove a stormer from 10th to 3rd before his engine let go, not what he deserved after that stupid decision from the FIA.
Sad to see Schumi go but i think it's for the best that he retires at the top, i never saw him accepting equal status with a driver of Kimi's ability. My feeling is that he wanted to stay in Ferrari with Massa in 2007 but Luca Di Montezemolo obviously saw differently.

Mclaren press release:

THANK YOU KIMI

Kimi Raikkonen and Team McLaren Mercedes have enjoyed a successful relationship for the past five years achieving nine victories, ten pole positions and scored 321 World Championship points. Only two drivers in Formula 1 at the moment enjoy longer relationships with their teams than Kimi and Team McLaren Mercedes.

The team has a number of options for the remaining seat alongside World Champion Fernando Alonso for 2007 and will make an announcement prior to the end of the year.

Following today's announcement regarding his future, the Team would like to thank Kimi for his contribution and wish him the very best. Whilst Kimi's 2007 plans are now announced both Kimi and the Team recognise there is still a job to do this season and will continue to push hard.

KIMI RAIKKONEN
"Whilst I have taken the decision to leave Team McLaren Mercedes, I want to stress that I really enjoyed my time with the team. I have the deepest respect for everybody and will be giving my all in the remaining races."

RON DENNIS, TEAM PRINCIPAL, TEAM McLAREN MERCEDES
"I have enjoyed working with Kimi over the past five seasons and as a team we have achieved a lot of success. He is a very special driver and obviously everybody at McLaren wishes him all the best in his future career. Looking forward we remain confident that our 2007 line-up will be a strong and exciting one."

NORBERT HAUG, VICE-PRESIDENT, MERCEDES-BENZ MOTORSPORT
"We worked with Kimi for five years and during that time he has become a great racing driver. On behalf of DaimlerChrysler and our premium brand Mercedes-Benz I would like to thank Kimi for all that he has done for us and I wish him well for the future. I am sure we will continue to have great respect for each other and will remain friends."

Any driver in Alonso's position would've been happy in that situation.
I was hoping that Kimi would score today but it seems fitting that Schumi won in front of the tifosi with his retirement announced, in the end he didn't need that help from the FIA as he drove very well and deserved the win.

Alonso may be right to feel hard done, but right now he's walking a very fine line if the FIA is really out to get him.
