What the hell do they think their doing?

This just makes F1 looks like a laughing stock. We all want to see a close fight for the championship, but fixing qualifying grids to create it is disgraceful and unacceptable.

If Schumacher wins this championship, it wont be through his own skill or merit, but the FIA's inability to let things be.

That is scandalous, how could the FIA punish him for something like that, Massa wasnot even close to Alonso.
The only thing i can conclude is that Michael is retiring and the FIA is trying to help him win the title this year, it's just unbelievable.

how do you know that this incident happened in the last lap? it could have happened before

It´s starting to get funny. How much more space does Massa need for a clean Lap....the whole Start / Finish Straight?
That´s just ridiculous!!!

Shame....uh no ...@#$%& on the FIA

PS: They are always mentioning on TV on how the other drivers and teams are asked for and actually trying NOT to influence the championship in anyones favour (overlapping and stuff). And yet the FIA is doing just THAT by *inventing* new @#$%& over and over again to favour their red baron.

"Massa - 26.6 27.5 27.3
Kimi 26.6 27.3 27.4
MS 26.7 27.4 27.2
Heidfeld 26.6 27.6 27.3

Blatently no major loss of time in any sector."

If anything Massa was getting a tow from the Renault, i just can't believe that they would do this. It brings a once great sport into more disrepute.

If you wanna get all factual like, Massa did a 27.3 in the last sector when behind Alonso.

Edit: @#$%& 27.6

"On Q3 on my last run, I came up behind Alonso who was also setting out on his quick lap. I lost at least three tenths," said Massa after qualifying.

thats how Anze.

Best bit is, the sector times show he didnt lose 3 tenths at all. Hes blatently bloody lying and the stewards are lapping it up like bloody lemmings.

Yes, thats why i posted the following line

Massa - 26.6 27.5 27.3

Edit, ok, you edited your post. According to F1.com he did a 27.3. He was not significantly close enough to lose time anyway, as the posted screenshots show.

The full decision of the stewards

A report was received from the race director that stated that the driver of car no. 1, Fernando Alonso, had impeded another driver during qualifying, namely Felipe Massa, car no. 6.

The stewards, after hearing the explanation of both the drivers, their team managers, and having seen video evidence and data supplied by Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro, find that:

1. Fernando Alonso was on his out-lap and, having been caught by Felipe Massa, did impede him;

2. To impede another driver during the qualifying practice session is an offence (Article 116b of the 2006 Formula 1 Sporting Regulations);

3. Such actions may not have been deliberate.

The stewards determine that a breach of the regulations has occurred during qualifying practice and by virtue of the provisions of the 2006 Formula 1 Sporting Regulations Article 112 order that the best three laps set by Fernando Alonso in the third period of qualifying be deleted.

LOL, god this is pathetic. Could the FIA not come up with a better way to try fix the championship? I seriously hope Alonso wins the championship just to add irony to the FIA's poor reasons at disadvantaging him.

This is the most stupid penalty I've seen in my life. Felipe was clearly far away!!

BTW: Two of the stewards names sound suspicios.

WTF!? There's no need for a penalty there, Massa was a fair way behind, I can only hope there is some evidence or the decision is overturned and its not fixing the championship. Of course is Schumacher does win the championship this year people will have this to use against him. Still a stupid decision

What a joke. Why don't they just ban Alonso for the rest of season and get it over and done with.

"Two of the stewards names sound suspicios."

Yea, FIA should have tried making it less obvious instead of hiring a steward with the name Enzo.
