my carset is nearing completion now too, after a big mess with my cockpit (I want to release both at the same time) where I deleted all of the settings. I think that I've fixed that now though. I finished the menuart too, so now all that's left is the jackman and cockpit for larrousse (if anyone can get pictures of this that would help me a lot), a few pit boxes, and some tweaking of pe

Grand Prix 3 Unfortunately I don't have many large, good quality pictures. Most of the ones I do have are of cars on track. Here are a couple of japanese websites where I have found good photos:
(unfortunately some of the jpeg's are not of the best quality)
(very good quality photos of cars on track)

Grand Prix 3 If anybody really wants to help out, I'm still trying to find pictures of the following:
Pitcrews: minardi, larrousse, scuderia italia
Cockpits: minardi, larrousse, scuderia italia, footwork, ferrari (i really just need to see the rim of the cockpit)
Rear end detail of all cars
If anybody has pictures of any of this stuff, it would be very usefull to me....

Grand Prix 3 probably only going to be one carset, for a number of reasons, chief of which is that I actually want to get it finished and released fairly soon. As it stands now, my plan is to release one carset, with the cars and drivers as seen in the belgian GP. Larrousse and Scuderia Italia teams will be included in another GP3edit file to replace Jordan and Footwork. Rather than do several different carse

Thanks in advance

Grand Prix 3 @widow: knowbody knows how to change the tire shapes. The external view tires (the ones we really need to change) still use a 2-d sprite like in gp2, so we can't change them using careditor. Unfortunately, unlike in gp2, they don't use a regular jam file. Instead they use one of the rcr-a jams (I think it's called chwheel1.jam), and none of the current editors can open these files,

Grand Prix 3 I know that the overall width (including tires) was 2m. Max height for the airbox and rear wing was 1m. I'm not sure about length, probably somewhere around 5m, depending on the car.

Grand Prix 3 here are the tires dimensions for 1991. I think that these were in effect from sometime in the early 80's up through 1992. For 1993 the rears were narrowed (I think to 13". Unfortunately it's not possible (that we know of)
to change the tire shapes in GP3, so for those seasons the carshapes look quite bad.
Front Tyres:
diameter 25"-width 10.0"-rim diameter 13"

Grand Prix 3 its because gpxpatch only has graphics for numbers up to 30. I suppose you could edit the targa files that have the timing graphics...

Grand Prix 3 Jackie:
About the Jordan and Footwork: I know what the constructors standings were, however, I wasn't thinking only of those. I was also thinking about which cars would look the best on the generic carshape I am including, which has a low nose. Hence the inclusion of Tyrrell (the late version, I'm not bothering to do the early high nose version) and Scuderia Italia. However I decide to

Grand Prix 3 Unfortunatly my desktop computer (the one with all my gp3 projects on it) processor fan fell off and the thing fried itself, but the hard drive should be unaffected, so I should be able to recover all the files, but it may take a day or two. As for the 97 lola,no I haven't released it yet, the carskin is basically finished, I still need to add the numbers, but I also decided to do a menuart

Grand Prix 3 I'm working on, actually almost done with, a brand new 1993 carset for gp3 1.13
Cars are basically done, unless I decide to make more changes to reflect different races.
Cockpit colors 9 of 13 are done, the others I am lacking enough reference photos to do a good job
Jackmen are almost all done, except minardi, larrousse and scuderia italia because I don't have enough photos

Grand Prix 3 T-cam is usually made by using the rear suspension, mirrors from the bargeboard supports. Look at someone else's carshape that has them, you can probably just copy the points over

F1 I am in USA, Speed Channel does all the F1 coverage here (also rally, CART, etc: the whole channel is motorsports). They show all of the races, both live and rebroadcast Sunday evening (for those of us on the west coast who don't want to wake up at 4:30 am) Unfortunately this channel is only on satellite and some cable services, you will have to check out what is available in your area. F1 nobody knows how to make the pre-93 wide tires, it's probably hidden somewhere in the coding of the exe file itself. me and marco alderuccio (actually mostly just him) were working on it, we managed to modify them somewhat, but not to anything at all good. I've given up on it myself, as I don't really know anything about programing.

Grand Prix 3 I've made a late 80's / early 90's cockpit that is available at this site. It has got full functionality in the pits without displaying the info on the wheel center during normal driving. This is controlled by the files in the ldata folder.
If you want to get proper functionality out of my cockpit, open it up in cockpit editor and change some things: Go to "rpm lights editor

Grand Prix 3 Yes, you can go ahead and use the Ferrari, Minardi, and Mclaren in your carset. Please do NOT include the current Jordan, someone just pointed out to me several errors in the sponsor logos, I aim to have a fix out in the next couple of days. I don't have GP3-2000, so you will have to check to make sure that these carskins work properly in it. Also feel free to modify the bargeboards and othe

Grand Prix 3 From Addie Walti's "trouble shooters faq":
problem
After selecting the track in the sim, gpX freezes and the track does not load.
discussion
This may have several reasons. The most popular ones in GP2 were (chances are good its the same for GP3):
1 - track too long. be sure to keep the cumulative length of track+pit lane below about 1597 track length units. For GP3 its 1648 u

Grand Prix 3 There was no chicane before the final corner back then. That would be the only major change. I've got the race on tape (they are showing all the races from 10 years ago on SPEED here in the states) so I could help out with ads etc if anyone could do the layout

Grand Prix 3 I think I found it. go here:
and download the latest version of the Ferrari wheel. The lcd info wont show during normal driving (except split times, which show up when you cross the start/finish but disappear quickly), but still has full functionality in the pits. The files that control it have extensions .ed or .3d, put them in gp3/ldata folder.

Grand Prix 3 Yes, it can be done. The lcd text is controlled by the files in the gp3/ldata folder. I'd send it to you but my email is busted.

Grand Prix 3 to remove the hand:
(note i haven't actually tried this, but i think it should work)
1.get yourself a tool to edit software jams
2.use it to open up gp3jams/main/pitprop2.jam (you might want to back it up)
3.save that as bitmap, open it with a paint program, and paint over the hand with the transparent color, export it back to the game

Grand Prix 3 There is really no way known to make these tires as the external view wheels in gp3 are actually 2d sprites that are controlled by a software jam that no one knows how to open. The most likely way to make these tires would seem to be to find what makes the rears wider than the fronts and increase this value, but it is probably hidden in the exe somewhere and would take a lot of programming knowle
