I don't see it to be logical either. Ferrari does not need to hide any reliability problem. Their reliability has been in question since the first GP in Australia. Even on the 2nd GP, one of their customer engines also failed. They also already made a statement to the media that they need to figure out and fix the engine failures.
Destroying their driver's morale is the worst they can do right now. Not just for Massa. If what HakkF1 says is true, it will also destroy Kimi's morale. Kimi will start to think that if his car fails in the next races, his team will make him falsely accountable for it, and make him look like a stupid driver.
A team would rather say that they have technical problems, 'cause there are systematic ways to fix problems of those nature. A team with a driver problem is much more difficult. There's no truly guaranteed solution for a driver problem. you can't re-program your driver's brain. Changing drivers also posses a lot of risk and variable. Like the new guy's adaptability to the car, and chemistry with the crew.
Massa simply has some numb nerves in his heavy foot.
