Looking on the bright side - Montreal was axed from one season in the 80s(1987 I think it was) and was reinstated the year after. Hopefully the same might happen again. Late September/early October would defo be a good time to hold it if that happens. It would make more sense to run all the European races in succession.by EC83 - F1
What?!?!? This decision is just damn ridiculous. Canada hasn't had a single bad race, like you say. No doubt they'll be citing the condition of the track this year or some crappy excuse like that. They seem to be on a mission to get rid of all the tracks that create even decent racing. Barcelona is a snorodrome which produces terrible races, but its place on the calendar is apparently fby EC83 - F1
I remember in the second half of '95 we had to suffer one of the most lamentable pay drivers ever - Giovanni Lavaggi. Man, the guy was sooo slow it was unreal! He might've been driving Pacifics and Minardis, but still... Minardi even chose him over Fisi halfway thru '96! Possibly the worst sense of priority ever... It's a great stat above because you can see how afterby EC83 - F1
I think Renault will get it, they have the skill and experience of Alonso driving the team forward and he's good in the wet; a lot of points have been lost this season because Alonso has taken gambles/tried too hard in races(Monaco/Canada are good examples). If he tries things like that but makes them stick in the remaining races, he could score a lot of points. Even Piquet is capable of a dby EC83 - F1
Well he's trying to create the conditions which(on paper) create great racing, but he seems not to realise that it's not that simple. He also seems not to realise that said combo of straights/corners alone doesn't create a great racetrack. Don't get me wrong, the layout looks not bad to me. It just doesn't look special or spectacular in any way. Think it's time theby EC83 - F1
Of the current drivers: Kimi. He might've been going thru a phase of being garbage recently, but when he hooks up and really gets on top form he's just untouchable. Barcelona 2005, Melbourne 2007 and Silverstone 2007 are good examples. Suzuka 2005 is the stuff of legend. For this reason alone he gets my vote. Ron Dennis described him as a phenomenal talent - says it all really. Of aby EC83 - F1

I remember seeing this on the news at the time. Happy anniversary!by EC83 - Off-Topic
Wasn't it over 7 tenths? Massa's quali lap was a total corker. I'm not a fan of Massa but that lap was amazing, it just seemed to come out of nowhere. He was probably a bit lighter(1-2 laps) than Lewis and Kimi, but not much more. He just seemed to hook up all the sweet spots on the lap and go bloody fast.by EC83 - F1
Well at least he'll have a car that's damn good. He needs one after the great promise he showed this season. It's impressive that the Integra stayed so competitive for so longby EC83 - Other Motorsports
Haha! Nothing, then, to do with his team screwing up in the pits - or finishing 13th and 15th in the race...by EC83 - F1

It's a total relief to hear Martin will be continuing, tho it's not surprising - the Beeb know how popular he is. Great to hear about DC too - another obvious choice. Allen finally gone, THANK GOD!! Loving the computer generated Massa image. Sweeeet. EPIC FAIL yet again from Ferrari's damn pit system. I don't know why they don't just ditch it, it's done their title challenge more damage now than it can possibly do good. This is genius! Back when this thread was started Kimi and Button hadn't yet scored a podium, Alonso hadn't yet scored a point, Massa hadn't yet driven in a Grand Prix, Lewis, Nico, Kubica and Vettel were virtually unheard of, the current Renault team hadn't yet participated in a GP, Toyota hadn't particiapated in a GP, Arrows was still in F1, there was no end in sight toby EC83 - F1
Congrats to Fernando, awesome drive! Needed an element of luck with safety cars etc, but it still takes something superhuman to win a Grand Prix in a Renault R28. He's had his faults in the past, but he richly deserves this success. This season he's reminded us why we became fans back in the day. Great drive by Nico too. Drove brilliantly to pull out that lead before he took his penby EC83 - F1

That would be a very smart move by Robert. That way he keeps his options open for 2010 - he can stay with BMW if they become title contenders, or if they go backwards for any reason he can go to Ferrari or McLarenby EC83 - F1
