Pretty serious situation. To get to the stage where you have admitted to yourself, then the world press, that you are afraid of the bike is not good....

Such a shame, he was looking awesome at the start of the season, but riding like a nutter, which has ultimatley cost him.

Good Luck Jorge, try and 'find your feet' again........(oooooh, topical)

Lorenzo got the perfect start and started to believe he was champion in his rookie year. I remember him changing some critics with Rossi. His confidence was very high... but after a couple of crashes, that same confidence started to go away. He needs to gain it back to be champion someday. He his season doesn't improve (if his rival Dovi finishes the season ahead of him in a less powerful bike), maybe the best solution is for him to go back to 250cc (or 600cc because the 250s are going to disappear), try to win the championship in that lower class again and then return to MotoGP.

He'll not go back to 250s. He just needs to do laps on the bike without falling. Get to the end of the season without crashing again (in normal race conditions) and then get a strong winter in. His season's lost. It doesn't matter where he finishes now - but even despite the races he's had, he's still 4th in the standings!

He should look back on the season and think of it as a success. Not many have done what he's done, and certainly few with so little finishes and injuries.

Look at what Stoner built on after his 2006 season... he just needs to stop trying set fastest lap every lap and to win every race.

But Stoner back in 2006 didn't said he was afraid of riding his bike. And in 2007, Stoner changed bike and tyres. Lorenzo will remain with the Yamaha and with the Michelins.

He is still fourth but he is 98 points behind his teammate and Dovi is only 11 points. Maybe Lorenzo has to get married. Since he got married, Rolling Stoner (specialist in crashing) has only crash 1 time in a race. ;)

Most of his falls happened when he lost the front. No electronic in the world can save you from a fall like that. The fact is, that in 2006 Stoner was in a non-factory Honda team that had one of the worst Michelin tires. Not everyone gets the same quality tires (it very much depends on the team's budget). In 2007 he had the best tires available and mostly because of that he almost never lost the front.

This years Yamaha and Ducati are probably the best bikes on the grid. The problem with Ducati is, that almost no one is able to ride it fast. Yamaha on the other hand has 3 riders that can put that bike onto the front two rows at almost every race. The Yamaha also looks more stable through corners and on braking.

Il Dottore has done it again.

Missed a lot of race unfortunately, but somehow, I don't like it as much as I like F1 (however MotoGP is much more exciting most of the time, with battles for p1 the whole race until the finish).

It was not such an exciting season as it was some years ago between The Doctor and Hayden, but good to see Rossi winning the CS again.

I'd like to see Rossi win it again for Honda, or Ducati. I think he'd be the 1st rider to ever win a title with 3 different teams!

If he ever wins the title with Ducati, he might even be the first to win with three different manufacturers.

One question as a MotoGP n00b, is it true teammate in one team can use different tyrebrands? (I thought I saw Lorenzo use Michelin, but I couldn't see it for Rossi.)

All this tyre thing won't matter next year because there will be only one tyre supplier. Michelin has IMO no chances to be this single supplier, because all 3 top riders are on bridgestone (Pedrosa even switched in the middle of the season because michelin made some huge errors).

Michelin have cocked up BIG time this year, and it's no surprise to find Pedrosa using Bridgestone tyres, him being contracted to Honda next year, Hayden not; the rest of the season is like an extended testing session for Honda to find out more about the Bridgestone tyres. If Dorma want competition between Bridgestone and Michelin, they need to conduct a multi-team test and allow Michelin to get back in the game during the off-season, since they've majorly lost their way. Brno was a 2 horse race this year: Bridgestone vs Michelin!

a bit ot but i heared rumours that there won´t be a 250ccm class next season. would be a shame, the 250 races are often more interesting than the moto gp races.

Bridgestone are also gonna be the sole tyre supplier, after Michelin didn't table a bid. [news.bbc.co.uk]

Pedrosa has the dubious record of setting a pole position on 2 different tyres in the same season.

Maybe it will be like the 500cc changing as it did over time, aren't they 400cc right now?

nope, still 250ccm. the problem is that both derbi and ktm don´t want to race in that class next season and so far only 13 riders have officially entered for 09.

btw: eurosport looses the motogp coverage
