OMG - the Berlin wall just came down!!!

It's been 18 years now since we (the free Western part of Germanistan) bought the former GDR for a chocolate bar, a pack of coffee and few Marlboros. Since then we have tried to civilize the East German aborigines, gave them real money and taught them to vote (not always successfuly, of course). Our chancelor from back them promised to turn commie Germany into blossoming landscapes within 4 or 5 years and who would in hindsight accuse him of a lie?

In honor of the 18th anniversery of the German Unification (Oct 3 1990) here my favorite joke:

What is the difference between Turks and East Germans? Turks have jobs and speak proper German.

I accomplished the Unity with my own bare hands, ripped down the wall, turned "le Todesstreifen" into blossoming landscapes, coined and painted money, built Autobahns and invented jobs for everyone all by myself and that over night. I then had the decency to take a step back and let Kohl & Co harvest the fruits of my work. Did I ask for gratitude? No. But I also didn't asked to bemocked.

And now you come along, a sweet water amphibian from Lake Constance, and tell me I disapprove of the Reunification? Quel Scandale! Quelle Horreur!

I stand corrected: "A fresh water amphibian from Lake Constance".

However I never claimed "Tübingen and "Thüringen" were the same and that you were a "Schabe" (cockroach) when you're clearly a "Schwabe" (Swabian).

(To everyone who just got confoosled by this - if n00binio speaks he probably sounds like Norbert Haug.)

it´s a lot worse than norbert

this reminds me of a little joke (sadly it only works in german):

gott hat gerade die welt erschaffen und bevölkert sie jetzt mit menschen. bei deutschland angekommen beschließt er, dass die menschen hier unterschiedliche dialekte sprechen sollen. dem berliner gibt er die berliner schnautze, der sachse bekommt einen dialekt usw... bei den schwaben angekommen merkt gott, dass er keinen dialekt mehr übrig hat. er wendet sich an einen schwaben und sagt: "na gud, dann schwätsch hald wie ih".

bah, schwäberei.
