Hardly a surprise. Were phasing down the F1 sponsorship anyway - the recent events have just given them a good excuse to get out - perhaps even a clause that enables them to get out without incurring any cost.by The Lopper - F1
Woah....this could not be better timing! The morning afgter Arthur's Day - Guinness day basically - is not a day to go to work fully sober. At all! :D edit: oh wait there was meant to be a question...hmmmm why doesn't Australia fall off the bottom of the Earth? double edit: Wait, home made wine? Very nice! Without a doubt in my mind, under a fair and consistent system Renault should have gotten punished. Race-fixing, intentional crashing of F1 cars is about as far down the road of "bringing the sport into disrepute" as you can go. Maybe these actions were the actions of just three men, but they were employed by the Renault company and therefore it is the duty of Renault to keep them in liby The Lopper - F1

Verstappen on the B194: Q: Looking back how do you see the 1994 season with Benetton. Was it a mistake? JV: "I think that maybe I was in the right place - but at the wrong time. Benetton is a very good team. They have proved that. But for me it was just a very difficult year, particularly as I was alongside Schumacher. I didn't have any problems with that in my head but the car waby The Lopper - F1
Who followed Schumacher though, Ross Brawn, Rory Byrne, Nigel Stepney...a few others.... Basically, Schumacher had his own F1 team. So while Schumacher was obviously a big loss, team-wise the bigger loss was probably the people who went with him.by The Lopper - F1
That's what Symonds is saying now anyways: Now I dunno, Piquet strikes me as a me-me-me type driver so I'm not sure I can understand why he would suggest he crash intentionally. Presumably, if it's the case, to save his drive. The full dossier from the hearing can be accessed through this link.by The Lopper - F1
+ 1 that's some brilliant delivery Dave, I'm giggling away to myself at work here. It's pretty much a given that Benetton cheated like it was about to be outlawed throughout 1994 (oh wait, what...?) You'll find whole threads devoted to it around here and elsewhere. I think the whole French GP TC/LC incident sums up the whole affair. TC/LC installed but no proof of it beingby The Lopper - F1
I'd be delighted for Nick if he got it. I know he has his detractors, but I think he's a damn solid driver who could really turn a few heads if given good machinery. Knowing Nick though, the Brawn would end up being an utter dog next year.by The Lopper - F1
Why am I not surprised...I'd have hope for Spa, since it is a historically significant track, but this kind of thing is just going to become more and more common.by The Lopper - F1

You will undoubtedly enjoy this little article if you have not read it previously: To be honest, for me, Belgium '98 doesn't sour my view of Hill. It was quite a bit different from the normal situation where team-orders apply, the situations where Hill complained about them, and I'm not sure if I'd be happy comparing the situations of Belgium '98 with the likes ofby The Lopper - F1
