So, when searching for that template file on my old disks i did recover a track i was once working on. I'ts far from perfect but may be fun. The only big bug it had is when you are on the starting grid, the tarmac up to the s/f-line is missing. After the first lap it is there. Any idea whether there is a quick fix for this? Maybe i can release it when i fix this.by <Maverick> - Grand Prix 4
yes, this is not the right file. This is the tutorial. What this thread is about is the templateby <Maverick> - Grand Prix 4
@lo2k: i hope so too. My time is slim but i've been enjoying driving the 2009 season the last few weeks. My hands are itching again. But not sure whether i should try again. we'll see @quickslick: the original file was named template.zip . If nobody can find it i'll see whether i can make a new one. It's not that much work. Not with todays' tools anyway (nice progresby <Maverick> - Grand Prix 4
Well. Just came home from a few days at my parents'. It's been a while since i had a computer crash which made me lose all my gp4 stuff. I thought maybe i could find this thing for you on an old computer of mine. But no. Nowhere to be found. If there's a need i could see if i could make it again. (not much work really) But the original is gone, unless somebody else still has it. (by <Maverick> - Grand Prix 4
Looks great laurent. On the tutorial.. due to some problems at work i wont have the time i thought i had. It will take some time but the new tutorial will be there. Maybe in the meantime a gp4 trackbuilding question thread is a nice idea?by <Maverick> - Grand Prix 4
It hasn't been going well. I am very short in time. I'm miles away from where i want to be at this time.... But it will get done. If not next week somewhere in the weeks after it.by <Maverick> - Grand Prix 4
i'll just use another track then...by <Maverick> - Grand Prix 4
i just use standard hungary dat. Nothing changed yet as it crashes before i get the chanceby <Maverick> - Grand Prix 4
btw laurent. everytime i use the "delete all folowing sectors" button on tracksectors gp4builder crashes :{by <Maverick> - Grand Prix 4

I have a nice feature request for you laurent. Something i ran into during the tutorial.. it takes a lot of time to scale your trackmap. and it's very(!) inaccurate. Could you make some sort of option to display a bar with a given length? So for instance i have a picture which has a detail on it of which i know it has a length of 10 metres. Then i set up "the bar" to 10 metresby <Maverick> - Grand Prix 4
my own idea btw, it's just for use in the tutorial, i wouldn't count on a done track afterwards.by <Maverick> - Grand Prix 4
well, glad to tell you guys i have a nice trackmap. Won't tell which though. Anyway, keep the tips and requests coming.by <Maverick> - Grand Prix 4
you can suggest anything you want. All i need is a trackmap (i see gildoorf is already working on singapore, it would be nice to do one that hasn't been done before). Provide a decent trackmap and i'll do itby <Maverick> - Grand Prix 4
Sure, i don't mind. Do you have a good map? (i was looking for singapore, but couldn't find a good one)by <Maverick> - Grand Prix 4

As some of you might know, the next few weeks i'll be brewing up a new trackediting guide. But i need some help making it work for everybody. So i have a few questions for you too. - What are areas that are hard for you in trackediting? - did you ever use the old guide and what did you not like or didn't find clear? - Do you have a nice trackmap of a circuit i could just as well usby <Maverick> - Grand Prix 4
3 weeks? hm.... ok, i agree. I'll do my best to make the guide as updated as possible. I'll make a new thread about it this week so people can ask the questions they have about track editing so i can include them in the guide. Let the summer begin :Pby <Maverick> - Grand Prix 4
Lol, looks like it's gonna be a nice contest here :P how about this, if enough people vote for new features then i will update my tutorial (both visualy (man does it look bad looking back to it) and internally) (btw, click my sig to see the original old one)So you can fully use it using the latest version of gp4builder and have all new features described. Then Laurent can focus on featureby <Maverick> - Grand Prix 4
Hm, tough question All options seem nice. But if i could propose one... I see people asking for tutorials where making a track is fairly easy. I would say nobody would need more than a day to make a track like Valencia (only layout, no elevations). The hard part is making it a "track" One you would want to drive ingame because it looks populated. This takes far more work than creatiby <Maverick> - Grand Prix 4
can anybody remember that erwin made a pack of objects to use in tracks? I can't seem to find it. I swear to remember him having made such a thing...by <Maverick> - Grand Prix 4
It sometimes happens in the directors mode, but editing one to do it all the time is not possible.by <Maverick> - Grand Prix 4
with my monaco track i now have the problem that when waiting for the starting lights the tarmac disappears. after s/f it's fine for the rest of the race. I remember having this problem before but i cant remember how to fix it. Does anybody know?by <Maverick> - Grand Prix 4
Tried so far: -removed ccline - removed all kerbs from new section - removed al bank from new section - reworked the pitlane entry ( i suspected this would be the problem, but i seem to be wrong) Still no luck. I've put the updated version online, it's a bit cleaner, but i think i better start over from a old backup cause i dont see myself figuring this one out. Well redidby <Maverick> - Grand Prix 4
ah crap, been working on my track, but somehow it doesn't load anymore. I think i made too many scenes, is that possible? i've deleted them afterwards but i dont know if 3dbuilder really deletes them or messes things up after a few scene deletions. When i try to load the track GP4 just vanishes no error, it just disappears. Any suggestions? Ok, problem is in the dat file. Strangly itby <Maverick> - Grand Prix 4
Well thank you for all the kind words, i'm hardly a legend, only released one track for the game, it took ages to make and could be a lot better in retrospective :P The idea came on me when i was just bored, i originally wanted to go backwards through the tunnel but there was no way i could reuse the original track for that and redoing all the segments it would be impossible to be as accuby <Maverick> - Grand Prix 4

Strange, but hey, fixed now Dit youby <Maverick> - Grand Prix 4
anyone care to look at my dat file? I cant get the ccline acros the next bend. I've been out a while, but can't think of anything i'm doing wrong. I suspect is has something to do with the crossover but i looked at the suzuka track and couldn;t find anything i'd need to do to make it work. Here's the file:by <Maverick> - Grand Prix 4
