A retirement with 10 laps to go. Gutted doesn't do it justice.

great result in the beginning to the season for RENAULT team. start 7th and 9th, and finish 4th and 5th. it seems we are far from the top teams, but the reliability of our car is good. if we want to score a podium, we should increase our race pace.

What a result for Arrows, 6th position and in the points. Our aim of being in the mid pack this year is looking good.

getting the last point available isn't really satisfying, but when you see that was Ralf the driver who got it,after a difficult race, who can't be happy?:-)

our car proved to be fast, but unreliable too,as we lost some point as Juan Pablo retired.

anyway we look forward to next round

Behind Closed Doors Test

According to latest reports, the FIA were so unhappy about the reliability in the first race of the season, that they have requested all teams to attend a test session which will be held behind closed doors and without tv cameras or reporters. The test will be held at Australia, so the teams won't gain any advantage other then reliability. An FIA spokesman had this to say, "We weren't impressed at the Australian race, our aim for the test is to have all teams reduce their reliability issues by 20%". The test will take place before the Malaysian GP but don't expect much coverage as the FIA seem to want this to be a non public event.

Da Matta unhappy with team mate

Cristiano Da Matta has spoke out about his incident with Olivier Panis. The Brazilian was furious that Panis had tried to pull off a move on him. "I just can't get my head around it, we're in the same team and he tries a move which never work" said the 30 year old. He went on, "I don't even think he was faster then me, i hope that in Malaysia i'm further up the grid and out of his way". Stern words from Da Matta there, could this bring unrest in the Toyota team?

Raikkonen thinks McLaren have what it takes

Kimi Raikkonen was delighted after taking the win at Australia. Raikkonen won the race by over 10 seconds from last year's champ Michael Schumacher who was then followed by team mate Barrichello. The Finn had this to say, "The Ferrari's seem to have the reliability, but our raw speed this weekend was fantastic. Hopefully we can get Coulthard up there with me and score some big points" Raikkonen leads the championship by 2 points while they trail Ferrari in the WCC by 4.

I don't think you should change the reliability numbers. It's the only chance that the back markers have to gain some points. For the sake of the competiton, please leave it the way it is. It will make the championship more exciting and if people want to improve there reliability then they should have to wait until next season pay for test sessions out of there budget. I think this is the fairest way to do it. Plus, with all the issues it made for quite an exciting race.

So please, just leave it the way it is.

I've reduced them slightly, they were pretty darn high when i looked, i think it will still make for exiting racing and im confident backmarkers can still pick up some points :-)

Absolutely disappointing race, happy with the extra test session. Now 10th at first practice with Villeneuve and 13th for Sato is a good result. Hopefully we will get some points this race.

Fantastic drive from Raikkonen both in the race and free practice. Glad to hear about the extra test session as well, it was a bit extreme :-).

MALAYSIAN GRAND PRIX - QUALIFYING

David Coulthard once again took pole. The Scot looks to be in fine qualifying form

A look at the rest of the grid. Michael Schumacher struggled finding space on the track. Jenson Button was also off his usual pace

wow, 5th and 6th place seems good but i beleive the reliablity will play the biggest role for the race. a podium score will be very good result for the team.

AUSTRALIAN GP - RACE

Qualifying threw up a few surprises as Schumacher and Button struggled with traffic. Coulthard sits at the front of the grid once again, but can he turn this one into a win? It's going to be tricky as local weather reports are suggesting rain towards the end of the race. Let's head down to the grid for the race then...

55/55 Barrichello beats everyone and takes the lead. Great start from the Brazilian. Trouble further down as the Arrows run into eachother. Both of them will have to pit for new parts. SUrely that has destroyed their chances of points today. Kimi Raikkonen passes Alonso for 6th

54/55 Ralf Schumacher runs wide putting him down to 10th from 3rd. Raikkonen also runs wide and he's down to 8th from 5th

53/55 Fisichella is showing good early pace as he passes Alonso for 5th while Ralf Schumacher is the first retirement of the day as he retires with a transmission problem. Pizzonia runs wide and loses 7 places from 12th. Bernoldi also make a mistake at the back of the pack

50/55 A look at the top 8 after 5 laps

48/55 Da Matta passes Firman for 13th. Michael Schumacher tries a move on Alonso but he ends up hitting him. M Schumacher travels down to 18th from 7th while Alonso finds himself in 17th

47/55 Panis passes Button to take 13th

45/55 Webber makes a move on Heidfeld for 9th, but Heidfeld turns in on him, which results in him spinning. Webber takes 9th but Heidfeld is down to 18th

43/55 Button comes back at Panis and passes him for 12th

42/55 Michael Schumacher tries another move on Alonso and takes it this time cleanly, he's now 16th

41/55 It's another retirement for Webber as he pulls out of 9th with an oil leak

39/55 Raikkonen tries a move on Fisichella but there's contact. Raikkonen loses a place from 6th. Button continues to come through the pack as he moves past Firman for 10th

37/55 A look at the top 8

35/55 Pitstops begin

31/55 Verstappen is now out of the race also with an oil leak

29/55 Heidfeld makes a mistake down in 18th

27/55 Williams are pleased with themselves after they get Montoya out of the pits and infront of Coulthard! But that isn't for long as Coulthard retakes 2nd, only for Coulthard to then make a mistake and let Montoya back into 2nd. But that isn't the end as by the end of the lap Coulthard leaves his breaking late and nips back into 2nd. Frentzen makes a mistake costing him a point finishing position as he rejoins 14th

25/55 A look at the top 8 after everyones pitstops

24/55 Raikkonen passes Fisichella for 5th

21/55 M Schumacher passes Villeneuve for 7th. This is a great comeback by the Ferrari driver

18/55 Pizzonia makes a mistake down in 15th and loses a place

17/55 With just 17 laps to go, Raikkonen is closing in on Trulli, M Schumacher is closing in on Fisichella and Jenson Button is closing in on his team mate Villeneuve. Looks like we could have some race action coming our way!

16/55 Well it's a lap later and disaster for BAR as Button tries a move on Villeneuve, they come together and they travel from 8th and 9th down to 10th and 11th, letting Panis into the top 10 for Toyota

15/55 Raikkonen passes Trulli for 4th

12/55 Da Matta passes Firman for 12th. M Schumacher passes Fisichella for 6th. Frentzen spins trying to pass Firman, sending him down to 15th

7/55 Firman is the next to make a mistake sending him from 13th down to 17th

5/55 M Schumacher is on fire today as he passes Trulli for 5th

1/55 Wilson is looking fast, but his move on Da Matta for 12th doesn't pay off and they both spin off. Further around the lap and they hit eachother again! They are near the back now in 17th and 18th

0/55 Barrichello has lead from start to finish just like Raikkonen did in Australia. Ferrari look delighted at that win!
