We expected a little more out of qualifying, the track wasn't as good as we hoped for. But we will strike back in the race!

Once again we are of the back row, maybe we can sneak a point here if the rate of attrition is high.

ROUND 11 - BRITISH GRAND PRIX - RACE

Welcome to Northamptonshire where the roar of F1 engines are present as you join us for round 11 of the 2003 season. Qualifying saw Trulli take a surprise pole as Renault looked to step up their season. But Ferrari are wanting to push on and win the title so the pressure is on. The sun has been shining all weekend but forecasts suggest rain is likely for the start of the race. Let's get on with the start of the race

60/60 No rain yet as Trulli and Coulthard battle for the lead into the first corner but it's Trulli who comes out on top. Alonso passes Barrichello to take 3rd, what a start for Renault!

59/60 Raikkonen passes R Schumacher to take 6th

58/60 Raikkonen's pushing too hard and goes off wide, he's down to 10th

57/60 Renault's fabulous start is over as Trulli makes a mistake into the first corner, he spins off but manages to keep it away from the barriers. But he's now dead last after leading. Montoya passes Button to take 6th. Further back Yoong makes a mistake and goes off dropping him a place and right infront of Trulli. Trulli begins his fight back but hits Yoong and they both spin

56/60 Raikkonen begins his comeback and passes Fisichella for 8th

52/60 A few laps later and Raikkonen is past Button and into 7th. Button seems rattled and goes off wide, as he moves back onto the racing line he hits Heidfeld ending Button's race while Heidfeld will have to pit for a new front wing. Bad news for R Schumacher as well as he retires from 5th with a loose wheel

50/60 A look at the top 8 after 10 laps. Just after that M Schumacher makes a mistake sending him from 4th to 17th. That's a blow for the championship leader

49/60 Frentzen passes Panis for 9th

46/60 Montoya passes Barrichello to take 3rd

45/60 Panis is next to make a mistake, dropping him down to 18th. Barrichello drops another place as Raikkonen passes him. As you can see the weather is changing

44/60 The track is getting wet in certain parts and that has caused teams to bring drivers in slightly earlier. That destroys Barrichello, M Schumacher and Wilson strategies as they have to move from 1 stop strategies onto 2 stop strategy. McLaren have stacked their drivers causing Raikkonen to lose valuable time and positions

42/60 A look at the top 8 after those pit stops. Raikkonen isn't waisting any time and passes Frentzen for 7th. He knows he has a good chance to score good points while M Schumacher is out of the points

41/60 Sato is having a decent drive and passes Zonta to move into 9th

40/60 Wilson spins off infront, slides back onto track and into the way of Pizzonia, they will both have to pit for new front wings

38/60 Alonso nearly gets caught off guard as he nearly hits Pizzonia who is leaving the pits, that caused him some time

35/60 Raikkonen's stepping it up a gear as he passes Webber to take 6th from the Australian

33/60 Barrichello is also on the move, knowing he's the only Ferrari driver in the points he passes Montoya for 3rd

28/60 Renault are throwing this away, Alonso is in the pits with an electrical problem. That drops him down 6th and they havn't filled him up till the end. Sato moves into the points after passing Frentzen for 8th

26/60 M Schumacher makes a move on Zonta for 10th but hits him and they both go off! They're running 17th and 16th now. Raikkonen moves into 4th after passing Fisichella

24/60 Second stops begin and drivers are sticking slicks on, the track is drying but is it dry enough?

17/24 Alonso and M Schumacher are the only pair yet to stop still. They are still on Inters and are running 2-3 seconds faster then the rest of the drivers! Sato and other drivers who pitted earlier have obvisouly lost out, changing on to slicks to early but they had no choice as they were running out of fuel and needed to pit

13/60 Salo's day comes to an end in 14th as he retires with a water leak. All the drivers have made their final stops so lets look at the top 8

10/60 Drama up front as Coulthard goes off! He gets back on track but it's right in front of Barrichello and Montoya! The go 3 wide, as it settles down Montoya moves behind DC and nudges him, sending them both into a spin and off they go. Barrichello takes the lead! Unbelievable! Montoya is 3rd with Coulthard in 4th

8/60 Another twist to the race, as Ferrari now face a race without any points as Barrichello pulls out with a brake issue. Alonso now leads the race! Sato moves into 8th as a result. Wilson retires with a water leak

6/60 Raikkonen passes Fisichella again to take 4th. Sato's points finish looks doubtful as Trulli takes 8th from him

3/60 It's usually mechanical problems that hit Jaguar towards the end of the race but this time it's Webber going off! He's now 8th and infront of Sato and M Schumacher

2/60 M Schumacher passes Sato to take 9th and has Webber in his sights. Oh no! Alonso has went off exactly where his team mate did throwing the lead away also. Montoya takes the lead of the race as Alonso rejoins in 2nd!

1/60 Well this race has been thrilling and it continues to surprise us as Alonso passes Montoya to retake the lead. Montoya has smoke pouring out the back of the car, can he make it to the end? M Schumacher passes Webber to take 8th

0/60 Alonso crosses the line to take Renault's first win of the season! Who would have expected that? Montoya crawls over the line in 2nd before his engine lets go

Alonso joining McLaren

After it was announced Raikkonen would be joining Renault from McLaren, it seems Alonso is heading in the opposite direction. McLaren are ready to splash out £17m for the Spaniard to head thier charge alongside David Coulthard next season. Sauber and Williams were also in the chase but missed out

Webber staying with Jaguar for 2004

Despite a frustrating season so far with Jaguar, Mark Webber has announced that he has signed a £12m contract to keep him at Jaguar next season. He will be hoping for much improvement from the team after turning down offers from Sauber and Arrows

Briscoe looking forward to joining Toyota

Ryan Briscoe completes the driver line up for Toyota next season. He will line up alongside Massa and Glock in a youthful looking team. Briscoe signed a £2m contract and turned down offers from Sauber and Arrows. All eyes are now on the team who may be lacking experience but certainly make up for it in youthful talent!

Davidson and Panis join Minardi

Minardi have announced two of their drivers for next season. The team look for a more optimistic season and that shows in their signings after agreeing contracts with experienced F1 driver Panis (£5m) and British driver Davidson (£6m).

FIA may keep Calender to 16 races

The FIA are reviewing the calender for the 2004 season already. However they are considering keeping the season to 16 races rather then extending it to 18 races. The news would surely mean the end of 2 tracks who were thought to be included, although they are not announcing which tracks will get the cut if they do go ahead with the 16 race calender.

Very disappointed as Takuma was getting points and lost out by choosing Slicks. And the crash from Button was even more disappointing. Should go better next races...

This hasn't been our lucky afternoon, Rubens again got car trouble and Michael making a few unfortunate mistakes causing only to score 1 point, happily we are still in the lead in both championships.

Toyota Ready to look to 2004

After announcing Ryan Briscoe as the team's third driver for the 2004 season Toyota team boss Captinfranko seemed all but ready to admit defeat in the 2003 championship. Speaking just after the announcement that saw young Briscoe move for £2m captinfranko had this to say 'There is no doubt that time is against us now for the 2003 season. We have struggled from day 1 to get any pace from the car and in all fairness to Panis, Zonta and DaMatta we really need to start looking forward to 2004. We will have a strong and youthful lineup and should be ready to take a step forward and start fighitng for podiums.'

The announcement of Briscoe's signing was followed by another short statement from Toyota to wish Oliver Panis the best of luck in his new seat at Minardi next year. Although no official word has yet been given on the shape of the 2004 Toyota lineup it is highly expected that Briscoe has signed on to take the role of test driver with Glock and Massa heading up the race seats.

McLaren Statement

We were extremely pleased with our result in Silverstone especially with Coulthard's podium at both his and our home race and both the team and Kimi were able to make up some points in the race for both championship after Ferrari's issues on race day. We can now also welcome our second signing of the season to the team in the form of Fernando Alonso. Our main aim for 2004 was to have a combination of experience and potential in our driver lineup and we feel that is just what we have with David and Fernando.
