becouse ms retired anyway, that was his punishment.

Just got back from Spa, good race, bad weather :P btw, its hamilton going more then once off the line to defend his position to kimi just after he overtook kimi if im right (as far as i could see on the screens) ? Anyway, penalty was deserved imo, got momentum by cutting the chicane, so he was punished, abit like klien and alonso in 2005 japanese gp. Anyway, up to monza :)

Yep he did as I stated and thats what I thought he was getting the penalty for, but as we have seen in the past going down a str8 they dont seem to care about as this is counted as breaking the slipstream, had he done it to defend then he would have got a penalty.

Kimi also moved about 3 times on the start finish str8.

With MS he retired through crashing, the penalty should have been taken to the next race in that case as we have seen done in the past.

Yup, they didn't even have time to give him a penalty. He retired a few laps later from doing the same (and I'm pleased he did, as it was the same egotistical attitude as shown on Sunday).

He darted about, but only actually changed his line once.

There's no system in place for such instances. It's a drive through penalty or a 25 second penalty if served after the race. If McLaren or BMW had complained, it might have been taken further though (no idea if the stewards or FIA have that power in standard incidents).

Retrospective penalties aren't possible for such incidents in the current regulations, which is why they didn't penalise Hamilton with a grid penalty, when I'm sure they would have preferred to.

Again, if this may be possible to alter at the appeal, it might still happen.

In that one marcl the excuse was that Schumacher eventually retired anyway, but just randomly looking through old Hill / Schumacher battles, came across this one, never noticed at the time but look what our good chum Schumacher decides to do ;) -

From what I remember that day he finished 3rd.

There were things in place back then, even going back to 1993 there were remember Brundle passing prost in Germany by going through the chicane, he was give a drive through. Massa was given a 10 place grid drop after crashing with Alesi in Italy so there were penalties back in 2006.

MS got away with the Pedro one scott free and did not get a penalty for crashing into Nick.

Its all in the past but it just shows yet again that rules are not always followed. And to me the hungry move was 10 times worse than that from Spa. There have been so many things this year that people have got away with, including lewis, that in the next race people dont. Kovy spun a Honda round in Monaco no penalty, yet spa drive through. Glock holds up nick in the last gp quali no penalty yet kovy got one for france.

Mclaren wont get anywhere in the appeal and infact it could be even worse they should drop it move on.

Hills a hypocrite anyway. It was that year he complained about team orders, then asked for them for Spa so he could win. I want to like Damon, but he really has no standards at all.

Ah yeah of course, must have been thinking of another race that season :) I always thought the only moving once to defend lark was a gentlemen's agreement, not really set in the rules, which actually both Hamilton and Raikkonen decided to do at Spa too! ;)

at least kimi was trying and wasnt going for 2nd place (i always hate that :P) maybe not the best way to become a 2 times champion, buts its more spectaculair :D we can use that in these days (seriously, if 2009 wont get any better with better regulations id better stop watching f1, or ill die from boredom, anyway spa was the first good one in ages)

Kovy seems to have had a gear failure on the last lap, I am trying to work out if that was the 4th race on it.

Both him and kimi should be able to have new engine for the next race, I wonder if mclaren will change Lewis one.

Just watched the pantano crash from gp2 that led to the race ban. He lost the car under braking and it was very similar to the Kimi one.

I think the penalty was well harsh he should have been allowed to start at the back for the next race.

Both lewis and kimi were trying which was great to see, both were going at it 100% spinning going off road etc. Just the day before Lewis said no risks but he took them as he did not even need to beat kimi to increase his lead. Out the 2 though it was clear kimi would be the one to drop the car it looked bad in rain.

If I was ferrari I would worry, there are 2 races coming up Japan and China where it does tend to be a bit wet.

pantano did alot more things then just crashing, he overtook under yellow and some more stuff, if he only did the incident thing he proberly wouldnt have got a punishment.

As I already said - if drivers in GP2 were punished for driving like Pantano did, then we'd have a 3 car grid every week. He was punished to make the championship more exciting.

James Allen as much as I dont like him made a good point.

Had the track been dry the amount Lewis backed off would have given kimi enough advantage to not come straight back at him. But due to the mclaren car advantage in the rain this is why lewis was able to come straight back.

I suppose at least it makes the 5 final races closer and unless someone gets unlucky it could go to the last race.
