The argument of lost points is... pointless? I could then argue that Ferrari have cost Alonso by building a crap car at the start. In the end, it is what is. Alonso suffered at the start, and Lewis has suffered from mistakes within the team. That happens though. Also regarding the Lewis incident. Whitmarsh said Lewis did the same with Pastor, as he did with Grosjean and Kimi. I would certaiby chet - F1
wow Dan!! Amazing stat. I always appreciated the variety of cars Patresse (Sp?) drove. Amazing evolution of cars. Gav - good points, I think I had more of a romantic view about it of Lewis drifting round Copse :p. I suppose Button would have faired well in that era. Taking the topic in a backwards fashion, I would like to see a peak performance Jackie Stewart in a car today. Anyone whoby chet - F1
ANOTHER race I missed live... just finished watching and... wow. I put it on expecting to fall asleep to it. Was that the best race ive ever seen? It's damned close! What's to say except one thing? Alonso is... the best. Alonso is amazing. Honestly probably deserves to be in the top 8 of greatest all time drivers. Fantastic driver. Also, Lewis v's Pastor. I do think Lewisby chet - F1
Interesting concept. Anyone think this can be applied to modern F1 drivers? We have always had a few good drivers except in the 00's when it was only 'the Michael' and Mika. Personally I would have loved to have seen Lewis in f1 between 1960 and 70. Likewise Alonso between 80 and 90 where complete car management was key. I'd also like to see Jenson in a much older mby chet - F1
The more 2012 goes on the more I am enjoying seeing the 3 best, Lewis, Alonso and Vettel in the 3 best cars. Look at Canada pre tyres going to mush. Lewis (Mclaren) v's Alonso (Ferrari) v's Vettel (RBR). It reads so much nicer than having two of them in the same car. Again, look at the championship standings. As much as people would love to see such driver pairings, IMO it coby chet - F1

I don't have an issue with the engine. I was impressed with the unit, but one of the reasons it kept up was because it had almost half the drag, and it weighed a lot less because it was not bound by regulations! Where was the innovation? If anything the best things about the car were the front tyres made my Michelin, and the engine made by Nissan. Overall the car had nothing new, or nothiby chet - Other Motorsports

Shame about Mcnish! best driver out there but was it a silly mistake? Also big shame for Davidson. Ironic that despite all efforts to reduce the flips, he still has one. Toyota showed ok though, no more or less than expected really. Delta wing... well good riddance! Waste of time and money. ? I'd like to see a real innovative car next year, with a purpose... Gui and Gav, much clearer, thanks :D! And lol @ Gui's wet dreams. I guess your points have slightly been illustrated today with Englands first goal, the Carrol one? I heard another interesting stat that before this game 9 or 10 of the last 12 goals against Sweden were headers, hence the reason Carroll was played.. and you saw the result.by chet - Off-Topic
Interesting point about Singapore. I've been watching the skyf1 reviews. The 2008 review was obviously done before all of the cheating was known, so watching Singapore was particularly interesting. I urge you all to watch the review of the race if possible and look at the way Piquet looks at Flav when Alonso crosses the line. His face says a thousand words. And some of the team members whby chet - F1

Interesting tweet from Jake Humphrey! Gomez has had the ball for a total time of 22 seconds in 2 games, and scored 3 goals. The way he and Schweinsteiger hooked up the other night was amazing. I might seem obvious to most but is England's downfall in international football the fact that the premiership is hugely international? Surely the championship standings between Alonso, Lewis and Vettel suggest talent is ever present? It will be more so obvious when Jenson leads the title soonby chet - F1
! I should have said that in the first place. But yeah, most tracks are very similar these days. A perfect example, Jenson Button in 2010 ran the same rear wing at Monza that he did at Canada and Spa I believe. Of course everyone else ran with specific wings but he proved by finishing 2nd that it wasn't really needed. edit - And that was without DRS! I was surprised last yeaby chet - F1

Was physically upsetting watching jense today. He was the slowest car on track except for the new teams... It was painful...really hope he can pull through quickly. He isn't one to keep down so hopefully this don't get to him. I could barely enjoy the race today. The thing is if it's tyres then he is the only being effected this much. It is nice to see progress, even if it's slow. Will he return to F1? I still doubt. But I do hope he can return to motor racing in some form or another. Obviously not to the same extent, but it's a similar story to Bellof. Championship quality not given the chance to prove it.by chet - F1
I totally forgot about Hockenhiem! If we assume a lot of the problem is in his head, combined with tyres, then that incident must be a large part of the reason! I too think Massa should either change sport, or switch team. Not because I do not think he is not good enough for Ferrari or F1, but that a switch to a completely new environment will only be good. Another point I didn't conby chet - F1
Been watching the season reviews on sky F1 and I forgot just how good Massa was. So, where did it go wrong... Spring in the head? Slick tyres? Switch to Pirelli? Alonso? Or any other reason(s)? IMO I pin it on, well all of them! In 2007 and 2008 when he looked quite a force, especially in 2008 it was clear that a driver did not need to be as precise as now IMO. Lewis drove hby chet - F1
That was in relation to plastic structures they put on top to simulate visibility for 2013 with the current set up. Also interesting to hear that the reason for the change in nose design was because Mclaren said they focused a lot of time at the rear of the car and perhaps did not explore development at the front as much. RedBull Obviously Vettel, why would he move? It is his team now. Closest thing we have seen a Schumacher-Ferrari dream team. If you're going to fight for championships then you will need a Vettel, Newey, Horner, and what has become the best pit crew. Right now only Alonso is the one thing that could better this combo IMO.
