Danm, I would have voted for the same party regardless of who their leader was. The fact is that I wasn't voting on personalities - I was voting on policies. The Labour policies would have been exactly the same had somebody else been leader.by Locke Cole - Off-Topic
Um, when in the General Election did we have the choice to vote for a leader? I remind you again, in the election we each voted for our LOCAL MP. We have no right to choose who is leader of the party.by Locke Cole - Off-Topic
P.S. I personally feel that any reform of the electoral system should remove the Scottish constituencies from the Houses of Parliament, and allow independent rule in Scotland by the seperately-elected Scottish Parliament. IMHO the fact that Scottish MPs do not sit on the Scottish Parliament, yet DO sit on the British Parliament - and can influence British politics whereas English MPs cannot inby Locke Cole - Off-Topic
Perhaps he means percentage of each seat? Which to me, makes more sense. i.e. 45,000 people vote in a city centre constituency. 36% vote Labour, 30% vote Conservative, etc. Then, 15,000 people vote in a sparsely-populated rural constituency. 40% vote Conservative, 25% vote Labour, etc. If BOTH of those percentages were given the SAME weighting, despite more people voting in the first constby Locke Cole - Off-Topic
WHAT has happened to all the unofficial support for the Lib Dems over the past few weeks!?by Locke Cole - Off-Topic
To be honest Dan, my family are in the same boat. I won't add any further anecdotes because you've summed them up pretty succinctly. I can fully appreciate why you'd be voting Conservative for those reasons. For me, however, I just don't reckon the Tories will be enough of a "fix" to the system. Lib Dems have some wackier policies, particularly re. income tax, but thby Locke Cole - Off-Topic
One of the children in my class today asked me if I was voting for Brown, Cameron or Clegg. I tried explaining that I wasn't voting for any of them, that I was voting for a local candidate who belonged to the same party, who would then contribute to the make-up of Parliament to decide the eventual Prime Minister... I gave up in the end. By the time these youngsters are of voting age, it wby Locke Cole - Off-Topic

Right, I've spent my bank holiday Monday reading through the Conservative and Lib Dem manifestos to see who I agree with most. Depressingly, I still can't choose between them. They both have strengths in different areas. The one which is most important to me - Education - seems to be slightly more favourable in the Lib Dem manifesto than the Conservatives, but there are still parts oby Locke Cole - Off-Topic
Woah woah, I have been misunderstood big-time. 97kirkc and DaveEllis, you've picked up on lines in my post (fair enough) but have not got what I was trying to communicate. My cousin has joined a page which basically tells people "Don't vote for the Conservative party, because they are the Conservative party." The page doesn't list any policies, doesn't offer a perby Locke Cole - Off-Topic
My cousin has joined a Facebook page called "National Not Voting Conservative Day". What the hell is that even supposed to mean? Is she actually happy with the way the country is being run? :s Is this page advocating preserving the current state of affairs? (which, ironically, is a Conservative strategy) ... This group is one of the most pointless, uninformed pages produced on Faceboby Locke Cole - Off-Topic
Fully agreed. There was no need to apologise - I think it paints a sorry picture for politics when men like Gordon Brown will bend over backwards to try and appeal to everyone, it makes him look shallow, spineless and wishy-washy.by Locke Cole - Off-Topic
Sorry but when the hell are we EVER going to use Trident?? Answer: Never! It's a horrific waste of money that could be redistributed into something more worthwhile. I say cut the "Defence" budget to a quarter of what it currently is, or even less. Redistribute that money into transport, healthcare and education. I have likened the UK public services to a house in a shanty town before, because I think it's a good analogy. Whenever it looks in danger of collapse, the Government (whoever they may be) quickly add another bit of support to try and prop it up for another few years. When it starts to wobble again, they throw more crap at it in an attempt to keep it standing. The system is effectively aby Locke Cole - Off-Topic

He was never going to come back and be a WDC contender, was he? I was amongst the crowd expecting him to be beaten by Rosberg too. The fact is, he's just come back because he loves competing and it's good fun. And like it or not, that changes your mentality to a weekend. Nickv, your comments are actually very pertinent. And I could fight a losing battle by voting Green or UKIP, but the sad fact is that it will not change a darned thing. I, like most people in this country, may have to simply make a choice between Brown and Cameron. Which is like making a choice between stomach cancer and castration. But one of them's got to win, I may as well choose the oneby Locke Cole - Off-Topic
The issue from my standpoint is as follows:- Vote Labour: And have a witless moron running the country Vote Conservative: And have a constantly-embattled Parliament meaning nothing gets done Vote Lib Dem: And waste your vote Vote UKIP: Generally excellent policies but run by idiots Vote BNP: And declare yourself a racist Vote Green: And waste your vote Fortunately, I am one of the feby Locke Cole - Off-Topic
