it worked with WoW because its HUGLEY popular and the audience is massive.

Can you see that on a racing sim that has been made out to be best there is.

Not at all. Maybe the serious sim racers will, but how many are there willing to pay monthly for a very biased game with few cars and tracks??

WoW has so many people playing it that the pay monthly is a success.

I already think WoW is stupid, but people are free to enjoy it how they want as long as they're not douche bags. iRacing controls even your offline racing. Big Brother is charging you $.

Forward the trial invitation to Dave Kaemmer and gently tell him to go f*ck himself with a dead badger repeatedly and proceed to use sharp, pointy objects as a chair.

It's not a trial as such, it's just getting the system early.

I believe they are looking at ways to trial the cars at the moment with some people putting forward a couple of (thought out) suggestions.

That's called paying to be a beta-tester... lol

It's only after we've lost everything, that we are free to do anything.

Betaware is a nickname for software which has passed the alpha testing stage of development and has been released to a limited amount of users for software testing before its official release. Beta testing allows the software to undergo usability testing with users who provide feedback, so that any malfunctions these users find in the software can be reported to the developers and fixed.

Yeah it is ;)

They shouldn't call it a trial if it isn't a trial tbh.

It will still be a while before we open our doors to the general public, but you’ve either been nominated by one of our former beta testers or been selected from our public site registrants database for this exclusive offer to join iRacing.com for a one-month trial subscription before our general launch.

[snip]

To get on track now, activate your one-month subscription at [removed]. Insert your personal promotional code [removed], and the monthly subscription package will automatically be selected. The cost is $20 and must be paid with a credit or debit card. The system will guide you through the process of downloading the software, calibrating your controls, and getting started.

So, it's like your Beta testing before they open it up.
There's no way anyone could ever convince me to pay a monthly fee, on-top of the monthly fee I already pay for the net, to go sim-racing. I guess I'm just old fashioned now.

Anyway, join my cult guys if you'd like..it's free....

You aren't beta testing anything. The beta has finished which was with a limited number of users and all the content was there to test. Now it's open to the public, but as Neil said they are taking new users in waves so the servers don't fizzle and pop from demand.

Whether you think it's worth the money is entirely up to you. I personally don't think any MMORPG is, because I'm not a fan of the genre, but I think iRacing is because I'm a fan (although while I think it's worth the money, I'm not convinced yet it's good value for money). As far as I'm aware (correct me if I'm wrong) there isn't a free trial for WoW, but I agree there should be something for iRacing to let you drive the cars, see the tracks and test out the servers.

I thought you got 1-2 months free with WoW, everyone I know who played it had a free month. But you still pay the 20-30 dollars for the game.

Exactly... so really you don't get a month free as it comes when you've bought the game. The iRacing software is free.

But the iRacing content isn't free though.

But its not open to the public though, I mean if I remember rightly, at the time you had to get an invite from a closed beta tester to be on the list to use the software, which means its still closed to the public, unless you happen to know the right people to be able to get an invite.
