There's always hope of this quality and care going into the game setting an example of how good reception can be. Of course they can't keep releasing those franchise games so shortly after one another or they'll lose relevance.

They did say when doing the next DIRT they are taking out alot of the rubbish and once again concentration on the rallying parts, but they have a problem with no longer having the license to the WRC.

I think they never had full wrc licence or at least they didn't have any idea how to use it properly.

-No real wrc drivers after CMR1
-No any real wrc teams and liveries after CMR3

Kimi, so, Massa Fernando Sebastian is faster than you. Can you confirm you understood that message?

I don't think they did, they just licensed a handful of vehicles.

I'd rather have a touring car game tbh. Or maybe Dakar :P Codemasters should make Dakar 2011 with old Colin McRae style!

They already raped 1 dakar game with taking over studio asobo and changing their promising dakar game project (Grand Raid Offroad) into epic fail called Fuel. :P

Anyway driving dakar cars in Dirt 2 is fun so that idea is not so bad. :)

the WRC game by Milestone looks like an "almost there" game from what I've seen so far, without any real tracks due to their lengths.

The new one by Blackbean? It looks like sh*t. At least Codemasters could say DiRT was high quality, it was just badly aimed. This new WRC game looks like a crap PS2 game.

I asked Steven Hood on Twitter last night if they were going to bring touring cars back to the gaming masses like early toca series after seeing what the new broom at codemasters have done with the F1 license etc

And he replied to me this morning saying he'd like too, so who knows :)

I thought the car themselves looked good, the scenery was very acceptable but you could notice the resolution wasn't that high. It feels like they copy their ideas from one game to the next. SBK handles well but it's somewhat limited (haven't played SBK X :(), the V8 one is poor unless you use the gamepad on a 360/PS3 - but it still is poor overall-, and the WRC game just keeps on announcing disappointing things like the fantasy tracks based off elements of the real tracks.

Anyway, we should start a count of how many people have purchased this already and for what system :P. Mine will be here in the end of September, for the PS3!

I'm surprised they didn't have a greater co-operation with Allsport (the people that control on-track F1 advertising) - for example all their videos had DHL advertising for Spa on the main straight, whereas it seems Allianz is there for the real race.

I'll be buying it from Game on the day of release. I booked the day off work. The week prior to this I'll be getting a racing wheel for 360 bit dunno which one yet.

I'll be doing a 7 season starting with either Lotus or HRT. Probably at 50% race distance, I don't think I have time for full length.

I'll be writing a sort of race by race diary which I'll post on here in a new thread. Though if the game is disappointing it might mysteriously disappear...

Eventually it will be nice if there's a thread for wheels for consoles. I was looking around G25 and G27, as well as Fanatec but Fanatec was selling the wheel by itself not the pedal, and I don't think I want to buy the Logitech GT wheel.

@logue - i think options for wheels for 360 are limited. I have the official MS one, and it's pretty good. Doesn't get used much - i don't have a chair that isn't on wheels!

Loque - there's a 360 wheel in GAME, it's £89.99. I haven't had a good look at it but it seems pretty good.
