Hmm. LS, the supported list of wheels: will other wheels work but aren't supported? I have a crappy Thrustmaster wheel they're selling in GAME for £30 atm, I hope it works with this game. I'm getting a G25 soon btw :D

in one of the videos from the gamescom show the devs said that they had a room full of steering wheels that they were writing the software for, if your current wheel is supported in Dirt 2 then it may still work in F1 2010

i'm only guessing though, if your gonna get it for PC then i imagine some bright spark somewhere will come out with a patch to get it working

I'd be staggered if all wheels won't work. I don't know what it's like for the PS3, but if the drivers work with Direct Input then they should work completely on the PC. End of.

Xbox shouldn't be much if any different, as it's still based on the same codebase.

Games like RBR show that not all games are fully compliant, but there's absolutely zero excuse for them not to be. Still, given how many things have been accidentally broken in testing I don't hold out much hope for an efficient codebase - alpha and beta testing are generally there to find and fix bugs, not usually to break and then reimplement previously working code.

It's not something I will likely buy, but it's a product I've been following (somewhat cynically) since they said there'd be realistic areas to the game (I do believe the word "sim" was used)... given what I've seen, I'm not sure where they are so far.

Arcade looks much like what people do expect - much like Dave says, the word "fun" is plastered all over it, but that's it. Still, I look forward to shooting down those on various other forum who imply there is anything remotely sim-like about it.

This pretty much sums up how i'm looking at it - the F1 '97 analogy was spot on for me, and on that basis I am quite looking forward to it :)

yeah its like ive said before, i think its gonna sit between the like of need for speed and GP4, should be fun and immersive and cater for those that arent hardcore sim racers, but good fun online with mates.

still, im open minded about it, and looking forward to it, GRID is terrible and the good thing about this is the devs worked on GP4 and are F1 fans so theyre gonna want to make it as good as the kit it runs on ie consoles, which is the main market unfortunately for us that are used to the higher end of sim racing

I think Gav as an F1 fan rather than a sim fan you'll cave in after people on here start raving and posting pictures and movies in the first couple of weeks :P

NR2003 is an awesome game in it's own right :P It doesn't require the series itself to be brilliant to hold itself up.

F1 2010 will in no way be a simulation, especially in the physics area. And neither should it be :P

hmm I am very tempted to pre-order, currently can get it for $56.99 dollars on Amazon, which is $3 off. I am afraid to have the price drop around release or right after though.

I doubt the price will drop soon. F1 game, relatively close to xmas and Codemasters. It'll stay high.

Yeah, however Amazon here does put in some good deals. I wasn't around Amazon when Dirt or Dirt2 came out so I don't know how they behave with Codies games. Anyway, going to pre-order in a few seconds ;).

Edit: $54.99 after finding out I had $2 left of some promotional code somewhere, nice ;)

Looks like the prequel to GP 1 - so it must be GP 0 then. Still better than F1 2010 though.

So I just checked Amazon now and the game's gone to full price, $59.99. Lucky me for buying it late last night :o !

If this sells well then I wonder if Codemasters will make a habit of doing games like this. Take away the ridiculousness of DiRT and GRiD and go back to the racing routes. I certainly wouldn't say no to a new TOCA game if it's like this for example.
