The PC version will run depending on your setup, just like all PC games.
If you have a dual core and a decent graphics card, it run alot better than the consoles.
If you have a celeron and crappy graphics it will run bad.

But agree with the Gran Turismo thing makes me laugh that people think that is a simulator.
But then I suppose Gran Turismo is as close as you will get to a simulator on a console.

I am just angry that there is no retirements and you can't retire.
The other comment as well about picking up and playing and messing about with setup to get a good outcome, thats why GP4 had a quick race option so you start 6th on the grid and have a 10 lap Gp to past the time for 20 mins.
Then you had champ season for finishing in the points and stuff

No F1 console game will ever beet F197. Fact :p

What indications are these? Ive not read anything about how it runs.... Or is this going by previous similar titles like the ones you mention?

Both. They took the PC version to GamesCon and it wouldn't run well on the machines they took, and I don't think they'd be taking junk. And DiRT/GRiD was the same.

It has been confirmed a while back that you can retire

Do you have any proof of retirements as I read on many forums and places that you can't retire through mechanical faults, as they felt people would not like retiring for reasons out of their control.

Well firstly here's a video i posted a few pages back which shows you can total the car

so there's one obvious way to retire.

Secondly although mechanical failures have been ruled out it has been confirmed, as far as i am aware (it might have changed since), that the three new teams can suffer from hydraulic failures, here's a quote from the codies forums about this.

'Hydraulics failures will only apply to the new teams, but to give the players a chance, they are still not likely. Despite this, in career mode the objective for the new teams will not be points or a certain position, simply just reach the finish without losing an engine or a gearbox.'

I read that ai retires with gearbox problems and on the videos posted in this thread the race engineer tells you to manage the car when your in the wake of the car in front as your engine is over heating

I would imagine that would lead to retirement otherwise why go to all the bother

Also read that allocated gearbox rule applys, stewards assess infringements and can hit you with a grid penalty at the following race

An overheated engine will just lead to a loss of power rather than huge plumes of smoke

what happened to Button at Monaco this year?

Any heat surrounding the engine could potentially melt the wiring also

Dont know the full extent of the tyre delamination as that is the only video present to show the puncture model, so as to if it lets go and flails about is yet unknown

As for being able to drive at 160mph, with the tyre just bobbling still on the rim and the rate at which a F1 car accelerates, im sure if a driver was stupid enough to try, it could well be possible.

When Schumacher was on 3 wheels at spa after the coming together with DC, i bet he was mad enough to he, could have driven it at 100mph.

Its just that is strictly in the confines of gaming and why would you in real life? i wouldn,t rule out the possibility so quick simply because it hasn,t been done in real life.

Some F1 insiders have said that its possible to drive a F1 upside down with all the down force, but does it make it any less likely as we havent seen it happen though?

I think the main thing here we need to look at is the immersion factor with F1 2010, we've never seen a F1 with this degree of features for a start, the little things like the driver sat in the car in garage, his hands moving as he stretches his fingers, the mechanics working on the car whilst he's doing it.

The press conferences, talking with the media, visible punctures with the deflated tyre moving around on the rim, interactive things whilst driving like switching fuel mixtures to eek out performance, proper realistic recordings from individual teams real life engines, all little things like this drag you into the make beleive world of being a F1 driver like we have never seen.

Sure its not gonna be as realisitic as Iracing, Codies have to cater for their main audience ie consoles as much as we'd like it not too, but hey thats commerce for you. In an ideal world we'd all love that, but what we are getting is the whole experience and going back to what i said at the top of my post, immersion.

I'm a hardcore racer, along with my fellow compatriates on here, from F1GP, GP2, GP3, GP4, GP Legends, GTR, GTR2, LFS, GT Legends etc and the list goes on, yet im still excited about this new effort from CM, sure the other titles have been arcade based, like dave mentioned for example, Grid, what a pile of @#$%& that is, but its good fun with mates online, and thats it, but with the F1 2010 game your getting the same sort of fan that we are, ie sim racers, they've worked on the crammond titles and are self confessed fans of F1, to my thinking thats a good situation as they want the same thing we all do, only problem is that maybe its aimed at the console end

On the CM forum, people are moaning about the things that havent been included, and not all the cool stuff that has, which is unfair when you have to consider they've had to tailor it to the console market first and foremost.

take it for what it is, if your after realistic racing to the nth degree get iracing, if you want to get some where in the middle of that and arcade racing like GRID then it looks like F1 2010 will do just nicely

I'm half expecting the moaners on the CM forum to mention you cant take part in the charity football matches mid week before the first day of practice :)

one thing we do need to ascertain, is who own an XBOX, PS3, PC and get some private online race sessions organised so we dont encounter any of the professional wreckers me and Dave spoke about in the PS3/Xbox thread

Im a PS3 gamer as only have a laptop now as my gaming PC is in need of a total rebuild for gaming, so anyone else who's interested in setting up a GPG Forum online race fest can post details nearer the date of release in a new thread and we can take it too the track :)

just like the good old days!! :-)

Don't quite get what you by that last statement, there. Surely F1 2010 will be more of a simulator than Gran Turismo, on the PS3 console at least?

I wasn't talking about real life that is what will happen in the game you will just get less power from the engine, sorry if i didn't make it clear ;)

I read that if you overheat your engine you are compromised in future races, rather than actually retiring. Guess we're not going to know about any of this until we play it.

I'll most likely be buying this, and it will be for my PS3. I will see if I can conjure up a setup to get my Momo to be used :).

If it is half as good as F1 '97, it will be a great game!
I hope the PC version isn't much more demanding than dirt 2 though, otherwise I won't be able to play it.
My slimline PC and strange PSU leave me with no upgrade potential :(

@rapid_f1

Get yourself an xbox 360 wired controller, they're not that expensive.

When i can't be bothered to set up my wheel, i just use the controller, you'll be surprised at how good it is.

As its a GFWL game, the controller will be supported out of the box.
