Very realistic puncture there! Can tyres actually come off the wheel and sort of 'explode'?

Not sure of the full extent of the puncture model, but from the video the righthand mirror is missing

Although I'm no expert, considering the amount of water on the ground there seems to be far too little visible spray from the back of the cars.
I can see the water dropplets on the camera, but there is very little spray-mist visible in the cars' wakes if you see what I mean

However, in general the game does look pretty good, even if the handling appears a little too arcadey and glued to the track.

Not convinced with the puncture video, he was driving at 160MPH or KM and the tyre didn't explode.
After reading what some other forums have put and the fact there is no player retirements from mechanical faults on the game + the video.

Codemasters are giving us a console happy arcade game.

The monaco in the rain looked pretty cool but the guy didn't really look like he was struggling for grip, as in GP4 driving in the rain is an art you have to learn.

It seems the more and more I see from this game the more I don't want it.

yeah, but that was'n what the post was about, awesome steering wheel, Steve Hood had spoken about wheel support in one of the media videos and about the one with the LED's included.

must admit to having similar worries, hard to tell at the minute with all the different videos and difficulty levels, and its frustrating not to see have it in it full blown "sim" mode for the hardcore fans

dunno if you read the article by one of the guys who attended the gamescom show but hes raced pc sims, heres a bit of what he had to say

I noticed that with all aids off I could drive the car pretty well. It drove like an updated F1 Championship Edition with more emphasis on getting good traction out of the corners. Because push the throttle a little too hard and you’re sure to spin.
Furthermore the cars under steered just a bit

I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it, especially because the handling was so good. It felt like an updated F1 CE, which is a good thing. The cars understeer more than they did in F1 09 for the Wii, and I honestly felt where the grip was and where it wasn’t. And some of the curbs were ride-able but not all of them! These are aspects that give me the impression that this game is somewhat doing a good job of representing the difficulties and experience of F1. Handling wise it’s more forgiving than the likes of rFactor but who says which one is more realistic?

Bottom line is this: F1 2010 has close to the whole package. It has the sound, it has the graphics and I enjoyed the racing very much. I could feel what happened to the car and found myself coping with everything off on hard. But then again I’m used to the likes of GTR2, rFactor and back in the days GP4. I’d say that I’m an enthusiast with a capital E. And this enthusiast is definitely buying F1 2010 as soon as possible

Dunno why hes comparing it to the Wii version though! might as well compare it to the iPhone version too

**edit**

just read this tweet from Steven Hood about the physics, so its been confirmed that what we've seen in those videos wasnt the latest model

Just played the build that may go to the shops... was interested in the physics change. Within half a lap I knew it was worth the stress :)

So will have to wait and see :)

It's way beyond what I'm expected from Codemasters, it looks very fun to drive! But from those videos it's weird not to see the car oversteer, understeer or power slide, it's like the car have the perfect balance. But for sure I think I'll have fun with it. But I'll stick with IndyCar Racing 2 if I want a real simulation ;) ! ( I don't have IRacing, and don't want to invest on it )

Hmm. What does that mean though? That there might be updates later?

I'll stick to iRacing and rFactor for my sim racing. But for the fun factor, this has it all!

That it may not get any more updates in house before the games released. I think he means strictly the physics changes though.

I think it will meet expectations on the sim level.

It will not be as realastic as say what iRacing might be, or LFS but it will be a challenge enough imo.

If you want to pick up and play a game, spend hours on set up to get a 10th place then this was never, and should never be yours. If you want to pick up and play, have some fun, with slight realism, ie I dont want to start last and be first within 2 laps... then this should be awesome. I think it will be one of them games where it will take a few laps to get used to, and you will be suffer if you go too far over the edge.

I remember picking up F106 for the first time ever and with a few corners had the hang of it completley.

This game will no doubt be for the mass audience whilst still providing the sim racers with a relativley good platform. I am excited by this game! It will be the first game I will buy in a long while!!!! seeing as though ill have a new system soon I hope!

But like others, I still think I will wait for one of you guys to write a review.

Then it doesn't meet expectations on the sim level ;)

This isn't a sim, never will be a sim, and anyone who thinks it is probably thinks Gran Turismo is amazing. :P It's a fun little arcade game without the ridiculous LOLDRIFT mentality of Need for Speed or GRiD :P

If it's as good as say, F1 97 (which is what I'm hoping for) then I'll get it for the 360. So far the indications are the PC version won't run very well.
