Hmm, he didn't really stay on the back of Alonso, he fell way back. And do remember this isn't the final build and it is Monaco.

The Montreal footage is the first time the game has looked fun to me. It looks like an arcade game that isn't overly silly. Like F1 97 was on the PSX/PC. It also looks good. There is less brown than the screenshots, which is always a plus.

I thought Ferraris side mounted mirrors were banned for Montreal?

Most of the teams, if not all of them, signed off the models of their cars before the new rule was introduced, hence the outboard mirrors.

i just saw a vid of GT5 - thought it looked awful! still had that awful GT understeer, and just looked generally dull. Then again i'm an Xbox convert, and love Forza, so i'm comparing it with my favourite console racer...

Time for sleep. Shame the old 'secret' isn't in the Gamescom build but... people still seeminly love game. They'll adore it soon I'm sure!

i love the way the suspension moves... very nice, i always wanted that in previous F1 games

whatever the game turns out they set a good standard for the future... i remember EA's first F1 game and how horrible it was...

for sure Codemasters game will improve, i hope they start with good physics... for PC obviously

Helios - Codemasters web manager publicity guy - said that damage was on low and only on a visual setting.

Some good videos here with aids pretty much off:

]Monaco video[/url]

Looks much better than the Ferrari Monaco video. Handling looks similar to GP4, ie plenty of front end grip, but a challenge to actually nail it spot on and get a good lap time.

Monaco looks fantastic. On small iPhone screen apart from the HUD graphics the thing could have been real.

Can you even take the wheels off? Little bit concerned that you might not actually be able to damage the suspension enough to retire. Looks amazing though, regardless.

Everything but the main shell can brake and come off.

Edit: Here's some proof
