i watch TG pretty much every day, even a few episodes a day on UK TV People.

@ Dan, i heard on the ITV news that James May's press agent issued a statement saying that he (May) was originally going to drive it, but due to diary clashes, he wouldn't be available on the day the car was available, so that's how Richard got to do it, but it wasn't a last minute, it was many weeks prior, so Hammond was able to get the full training and safety stuff, it wasn't a last minute switch.

Only clarkson would be so "insensitive" ;)

And serious brain damage does not equal vegetable, they would say that he had very little brain activity if that was the case

I'm no doctor, but I would guess he has severe bruising around the brain and this is what they consider "serious brain damage." And until this bruising goes down they can't really tell much more. I could well be wrong though.

Thats one thing Clarkson is good at. Not many people could get away with saying that in such a way you know it's only a bit of a laugh and joke to raise spirits.

Apparently it could be up to six weeks before they know if any permanent damage has been done. Also, 6 months seems to be the sort of time range necessary for recovery, though the coming days are still critical to whether he pulls through.

Just turned over to Sky News and he has been moved from Intensive Care to a High Dependency Unit and the Leeds General Infirmary. Sounds like good news, he is said to be making "satisfactory progress" according to doctors.

yeah i just heard on Radio 1 news about his transfer. the fact that he spoke when he was being cut out from the wreckage telling them where he was hurt, and that he laughed at JC's comments hopefully show he is "still all there".

The way he knew who Jeremy was, and that he could feel his injuries is a nice indication we could see him back on TV :)

getting back to tv is a far away dream at the minute, let's just hope he is not paralysed and doesn't lose any of his brain function so he is still the same person, so he can enjoy his life and his family first and foremost.

and he didn't break a single bone in his body.

not really, the car stayed intact and he probably had full body equipment on, and was strapped to it tightly.

Personally, I find it astonishing he didn't break his neck - if the roll-over hoop came off, it's a miracle, and if it didn't it's beyond lucky in itself.

Normally when dragsters crash they slide along barriers. You get the odd one going over them, and even crashing into each other, but to spin onto a grass infield and apparently not have any broken bones is pretty much a reprieve.

Well a roll over hoop isnt going to do as much as good on grass as on tarmac
