The reason its 12.5 and not 25 is because the driver one stopping also runs with worn tyres for longer and also on a heavier fuel load. If you look at the fastest laps, John was the slowest driver out there, so he did well to even cross the line first. That in part is due to the track and there not being a great many places to pass. Monaco would be even worse, so 12.5 seconds doesn't seem enough. However, when you take into account tracks such as Monza, Montreal and Spa, he would just be a sitting duck, so 12.5 seems really harsh! It's a compromise really.

Sure, you feel hard done by Rod, but have you thought how hard done by John is, 3 races in a row that could have been so much different?

Yeah, I kinda have to agree with Stu on this one. I don't necessarily understand why one stopping is happening (and always to John), but since it is the penalty is fair.

I wonder what effect this would have on a GPGSL race - would it perhaps solve the issue of the mysterious one stopper? (Possibly not, but worth having a go, right?)

I'm gonna test this now, see what effect it has.

EDIT: Ok, I ran Suzuka with AI performace value of 800 and inded it gives those stopping later an advantage at the pitstops. It doesn't solve the one stopper problem, Rodrigo Vilela was on a one stop strategy.

The mysterious one stopper is a typical Grand Prix 4 bug, altough I think you should delete all parameters in the magic data except the two pit stops - datas (not only set the 1 stop percentage to 0)

If it's that common a bug is there any reason we couldn't just say everybody does one pit stop instead of the mandatory two.

Notice

The Canadian Grand Prix will have full video coverage. Expect delays!

Additionally, there will be no feature race.

News is just surfacing that Adam Davies has been involved in an accident in the build upto to the Japanese GP. When out cycling the track he was run down by someone on an experience day at the curcuit.

"It was just one of those things that could not be avoided. A complete accident."

"The team and I did not want to draw attention to it as we did not want the attention to effect our plans for the weekend."

"I was knocked out for a couple of minutes and taken to hospital and checked over"

End of Statement

In all seriousness I was indeed knocked of my bike ;last week cycling home from work. Some idiot ran a red and hit me. So if I have missed activity check apologies but can the circumstances be taken into account.

Ouch, hope everything's alright mate.

You're fine activity check wise - the deadline isn't until 9 :)

My GPGSL Career
Is there activity check undergoing?

Always occurs at 9 PM my time on the given day. It's not for another 6 hours.

Nothing against JW personally, but both in Melbourne (here for sure) and in Suzuka (maybe) he had a bit of an advantage coming from the lack of a second pitstop, even with the 12.5 seconds penalty. It's crappy that this bug occurs, for sure, and it's definitely eye-catching that it always happens to JW this season, but generally I think that 12.5 isn't enough. I agree, however, that 25 seconds would be too much on the other hand. So, I'd vote for something in the middle like 16-18 seconds. But that's only my personal 2 cents and I'm aware that a change of this rule is unlikely to happen.

Again I say, would it not solve the problem to make everyone do only one pitstop each?

I think the only way around this problem would be to change the rules and make the races one-stop only, but that would have to be something for s8.
