GPG Nations Cup S2: Finished! S3: Annoucements/Signup pg 52! (4 SPACES LEFT)

Posted by GPG_Nations_Cup
Its time for the final installment of the race

Sadly the return isnt so joyful for Vukcevic who runs into the gravel and in fact beaches it and has to retire and end his miserable day

Maverick attacks Nikolov at Turn 1

And makes another place as he continues to power through the field

With De Boer falling away from Girard, Kamikaze will be looking to close in

Silva is having a peek at Marinescu who puts up stout defence at 10 and 11

Alpenstrom passes Vilela at 130R

Johnson has got alongside McGregor as we come to the final chicane

Both men brake about the same time but Johnson gets the upper hand

Silva manages to pass Marinescu where he failed before

Who then loses out to Byrne

Maverick comes off the dry line to try and pass Janthser

But will not manage it this time

Both men close up on McGregor who has struggled for pace

Jantsher has a good luck as they are so much quicker than McGregor

Jantsher takes the outside line to have the inside at spoon and passes McGregor and will hope to put distance from Maverick

Who does not intend to waste any time but will not succeed with either of those eager looks

Nikolov is right on the back of this now as well

Frustration for Maverick as he cannot make a pass at turn 1

Even Kederer makes his way onto the back of that group

Maverick passes McGregor where Jantsher started his pass on him

Nikolov wastes no time and immediately dives up the inside. Two places lost in two corners for McGregor

Now he is left to hold off Kederer and Copeman for the final point

Kederer gets very close to losing his front wing

And then at 130R has found himself stuck on the wet inside line

Copeman has stolen the racing line behind Kederer and they are side by side to the chicane

And Copeman brakes first and Kederer keeps a place he didnt expect to be defending then

Kederer gets McGregor at 200R to take the final points place

And Alpenstrom takes Copeman and is now just two places from the points

He makes an attempt at turn one to pass McGregor

Who holds on to frustrate Alpenstrom

They are drag racing up to 130R

Which has seen Copeman pull a similar move but is more committed at the chicane

They touch

But both are ok and Alpenstrom keeps ahead of Copeman

Girard takes the win at Suzuka and will be delighted with that

De Boer has second with Kamikaze rounding off the podium

Further back Jantsher has Maverick alongside him into the final chicane

Jantsher commits hard to the defence to keep the place

Vilela suffers a late transmission failure

Jantsher finishes 7th ahead of Maverick

And Kederer takes the last points place

Here are your official standings and it was Maverick for Switzerland who had the fastest lap

Great win by our French hero, Jean Girard!!!!! His contract for next season may have just been confirmed with that awesome performance!! Bravo, Girard!!!

Considering the amount of places we lost at the start, that's a good return.

good comeback the titles going the last race then :P

The speed was definitely there. At least a few points after this disappointing start of the race. But so much more would have been possible with this pace. Anyway, it's not that it'd matter anymore.

It was a great race for the championship. I definitely did not see the Nations Cup president in the ear of Jantsher to pull a Senna esque move at the start though ;)
4th's not bad! Good job, Suomi.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unless I'm very much mistaken... I am very much mistaken!
Update on the current standings after the Japanese race!

1. SWEDEN ------------ 88
2. NETHERLANDS ----- 83 ----- UP 1
3. FRANCE ------------- 77 ----- UP 1
4. GERMANY ----------- 76 ----- DWN 2
5. JAPAN --------------- 65 ----- UP 2
6. ITALY ---------------- 60 ----- DWN 1
7. AUSTRIA ------------ 60 ----- UP 1
8. SAN MARINO ------- 58 ----- DWN 2
9. BULGARIA ---------- 58
10. PORTUGAL -------- 45

* 14 POINTS LEFT TO BE GIVEN OUT, THAT MEANS SWEDEN, NETHERLANDS, FRANCE AND GERMANY STILL HAVE A SHOT AT THE TITLE.

** IN ORDER TO CLAIM THE TITLE THIS MUST BE DONE BY THE TEAMS:
SWEDEN - FINISH 4TH OR HIGHER TO CLAIM IT NO MATTER WHAT THE OTHER TEAMS DO
NETHERLANDS - FINISH AT LEAST 6TH IN THE EVENT SWEDEN WON'T SCORE POINTS
FRANCE - FINISH 1ST NO MATTER WHAT, AND SWEDEN CANNOT SCORE A SINGLE POINT, THE NETHERLANDS CAN'T SCORE MORE THEN 5TH PLACE IN THIS EVENT
GERMANY - MUST FINISH FIRST AND GAIN EITHER THE POINT FOR FASTEST LAP OR POLE POSITION AND SWEDEN CANNOT SCORE, NETHERLANDS AND FRANCE MAY NOT SCORE MUCH!

We are very pleased with our result in this race :) We certainly had major hopes for winning it though after the start! Just couldn't keep it quite together with how fast France was today!

We are most pleased to be in this position to challenge for the championship this year in the final race with 'only' 5 points behind Sweden!

Heey, you forgot the bonus points for pole and fastest lap ;). Germany still has a chance to win the title, even if it's a very very small chance.

unlucky race for Italy...

My GPGSL Career
Okay, with one race till the end of the season it seems we've done our job - top 10 finish after missing the first 3 races. What is more interesting - we have more points than the champion last season! We are more than happy with what we did this season.

Our goal for the last race is to score as many points as possible (with the point budget left this means that 7-10 place is possible) and to finish as higher as possible in the championship (so we get a little more performance points for next season)

Thank you for pushing your finger into the wound... ;)

Team France and our driver Jean Girard, will be going out, all guns blazing with nothing short of victory acceptable. Our French smugness and arrogance deems that nothing less than a win, and a championship is tolerable......

Don't forget the points scoring positions were different then in S1!
It was like F1 earlier years, were as we used this year for the first 10 cars, which makes the standings different by default
1: 10
2: 8
3: 6
4: 5
5: 4
6: 3
7: 2
8: 1

Exactly! Thanks Maikel for rescuing my honor ;-)

And what I also recognized is that this season wasn't as mixed as last one. We had several different winners and it was up to consistency to stay in the front half of the championship. This season it was more like there were a few people dominating things.

I'm disappointed, Kamikaze should have won.
