The Testing and How will the cars look in 2009 Thread

he drove the interim RA108 without no aero upgrades just the aero devices removed.

and used both tyres, grooved and slicks.

if his opponent wasnt given the same... well... i can contradict myself now and say I DONT CARE! ;)

There is hope yet! The BMW is hideous, the Honda is OK, but the Williams...

Loeb not looking that bad..then again it is the rb4 with slicks..nevertheless quite good time!

why do the f1 cars need to look so ugly..the gp2 cars follow each other well and offer great overtaking and they look nicer!

I'm sorry to disappoint you, but the Honda isn't going to look anything like today in 09. They just mounted on a new front wing and took off the winglets. The Honda is going to be much, much worse.
I know, but I don't think the Honda front wing looks as bad as the BMW one. Nicer livery, too.

That BMW does looks very strange but I dont find it that ugly, though the front looks like a digger. Also how can there be side by side racing with wings that wide, they will just break each other wings.

To me the BMW front nose reminds me of the Williams 2004 early
season car except that the Williams was more round and less wide.

Four things.

1) The GP2 cars are going slower, so aero turbulence is automatically less than it is in an F1 car in the same conditions

2) GP2 cars are already on slick tyres, so the mechanical grip is there, and is more usable

3) In half of the races, the grid is reversed, so the faster cars are generally able to keep closer to the car in front than a car of equal pace would

4) GP2 drivers are @#$%&, so little mistakes happen far, far more frequently, allowing gaps to rise and fall continually

Satos helmet fits that torro rosso very well! :D I hope he gets the sea, he could be exciting next year with a quick car...

Ah yes..good points gav

Still, wish somehow that overtaking could be improved but keeping the car designs like this years which imo is the best they have looked ever.

Also whats happening with the feature to change the wing angle from incockpit...is it still going to be implemented?

;) GO BRUNO!

I thought he did damn well too, The guy hasn't really driven Single Seaters before, just Rally cars, comes into an F1 car and sets a very respectable 8th fastest time!

Indeed, if he put them times up consistantly then STR should at least give him another test.

The difference between rallying and F1 are pretty much as far as it gets in motorsport really! Certainly a great time. I have expected him to be a few seconds of everyone and at the bottom.

Then again this does kinda show how easy F1 cars have become to drive or appear easy to drive.

is that last williams pic doctored? if not, that look superb! its like a modernised late 80's car!

Especially compared to the vomit BMW!

I dont think that's the full 09 spec Williams, you can see some kind of winglets on the sidepods.
