Im really hoping for these wing to fail. On kerbs, easier than before in slight touches to other cars, in tight corners of Monaco,.. Something just most go wrong, because these look so horrible. :S :D

Kimi, so, Massa Fernando Sebastian is faster than you. Can you confirm you understood that message?
I quite like the honda nose actually, it looks pretty sharp.
But the BMW,eurgh.

awful looking cars, the front wings look like they're made of planks of wood.

and the narrow rear wings make them look like small Formula BMW cars or something.

RIP Jules, never to be forgotten. #KeepFightingMichael

I've just been thinking about it...that BMW looks quite hideous yes, but I think it's the livery that looks bad, especially on the nose. The shape is quite square yet the livery is sort of rounded at the front where the 'moustache' is, as if they've just stuck the old stickers on the new shape. I wouldnt be surprised if they adapt the lines to fit the new shape better before the start of the new season :)

Man 2009 will be the year of ugly thats for sure, so many people thinking that it will be better when in fact the cars are 100 times worse.

i agree with you dan, i was thinking that white was making it worse than it is - williams' one in dark blue hides it well, i doctored it in photoshop to see, and it looks much less like a box! :D

BMW will use F1 to test more efficient designs for their F-BMW series ;)

Actually yeah - I mean I don't think I'll ever like the fat front wings but the blue-front wing BMW does definitely look so much better :)

@Bruno - cheers, though I think I'd need to send it to the FIA :\
at least the teams can raise more money from sponsors, now their logos will be twice the size on the front wing...

2013 - Nando must come through..

Looks to me like the ends of it don't like the stress it gets when it's got a big downforce load on it at high speed... Because it's too f*ckin' wide.

Although they're hideous right now, i'm sure we'll be used to them within 6 months. I remember being repulsed by the first lot of cars in '98, and again in '04 with the extended engine covers and read wing endplates.

Agreed, they do look like some of sort of structural support to prevent flexing.
No doubt when a race version is made it will be structurally strong enough and rigid enough not to flex to the extreme of needing those kind of supports.

Have to say now after 3 days of seeing the BMW's front wing and rear wing combo, it looks pretty normal to me now.

I agree with Chet, I'd even go as far as saying it looks nice in that last photo.
