FIA confirmed the F1 2009 numbering for the cars. Kimi got the #3 as I expected. I said that numerous times but no one wanted to believe, his teammate was not going to get the #1 status @ ferrari, never, no matter how good his season could have been. Kimi is and will be their leader until he retires. They signed him for that in 2007. Get used to that, his teammate is the v2.0 of a certain useless former Ferrari driver. He just had a Irvine 1999 moment in 2008.

Alonso is #7 and Piquet Jr #8.

They have?

It's not on the FIA website, or any other website that I can see off.

What on earth has Massa done to offend you today?

Thing is is, I might have believed you had you not backed the first sentence up with that tripe.

What a load of crap. Stop acting like everybody was against you when you said it. It was quite evenly distributed. Stop playing the victim.

Maybe massa wanted #4 so if he does beat Kimi again it looks like the no.2 driver is better lol

Anywoo wont happen anyway, im expecting Kimi to be on a major comeback this year..he just has to!
2003 - great year
2004 - poor year (car breaking down alot)
2005 - great year (IMO his best year even with the number of times the car failed)
2006 - poor year
2007 - great year (champion)
2008 - poor year
2009 -....................expect a great year :D

Why are you surprised? Did you expect Renault to give Piquet the number one status? ;)

Piquet has the number 8 because it still looks the same when the car spins backwards. ;)

+ number 8 tends to mirror his driving style, spinning round in circles ;)

And the number of times he crashed out of the race :P

I think it could well be true actually, I'm gonna count :P

EDIT: The F1 site says he spun/crashed/gave up due to the aftermath of a collision, 7 times. Bugger :P

The first 4 years his results (especially the bad ones) were due the form of the McLaren I think, he was always in good shape, only this year it seemed to me Kimi himself wasn't in good shape while the car was quite fast.

McLaren had those fluctuations the whole 2000's each year, until Kimi left btw, now they are stable at the top for two years ;)

Ontopic: Buemi, don't know anything about the guy, hope he's fast. And I hope Bourdais gets a second chance.

Thought about that too. I think he does, but on the other hand, he has had his major chance at Honda/Bar and didn't take it. He did well at SA, but I think that was already too late. Sato should find himself a nice, well-payed seat in some other, popular and spectacular racing series imo.

Sato should join the WRC, he'd be at home at crashing

Alonso let him through. He had little choice in the matter. Same as when Alonso himself overtook Schumacher in 130R at Suzuka. If the guy on the inside had tried to defend, neither would have made the corner. Both are heralded as great moves, but in reality they just turned in and hoped the other guy didn't force the issue.

Sato got his reputation for making those sort of moves when they didn't come off. That he got lucky once or twice shouldn't make it worthy of celebration.

He's had his time in F1. He'll add nothing to STR as a team. He's had so many chances and thrown them all away (apart from the SA one where he couldn't lose).

He reminds me of Verstappen. He could have great days, taking the fight to everyone (Buenos Aires '95), but he's still nothing better than a mediocre driver who seems to have an attraction to failing while doing the unconventional. It's just Inoue with some talent.

Why Sato is seem as a saviour to the fans and Verstappen is cast as a complete disaster I can't understand. They're both as good and bad as each other.

At least Bourdais is a proven winner (and loser to be fair). He might not have the commercial value of Sato, but as a driver, he offers far more to STR. He took the fight to Vettel as the year went on... could you see Sato doing that? He'd try... then crash, like he always did when he was put under pressure. 'Spose he can't fail if he's just got Buemi as a teammate though (not that Buemi is bad, he's just nothing special, and will struggle to get up to speed in the 1 year Sato will have if he gets the seat).

Didn't Sato crash in his first ever qualifying session in F1, or was that practice

If he gets the STR seat its so Red Bull can sell drinks in Japan, that's it to be honest

Yes, Sato crashed his car in practise for his first GP. He crashed after going too quick through the corner after the back straight. There probably are some vids floating around at YouTube.
