But Button, who recently signed a three-year contract extension, has made it clear that he has no intention of jumping ship and pushing for a race seat elsewhere. It means that if a buyer is not found, he risks being left on the sidelines for the 2009 season.

I'm sure there would be other options to race in F1, but very limited, because it's so late in the day. So it is a difficult decision to make.

Well apparently STR are definitely not interested, so in F1 terms it's Honda or nowt. If Force India change drivers, it'll be for a McLaren test driver or Mercedes backed driver.

Other than Honda, Button would need to rely on not only the Honda team failing to attract a buyer but also a second team biting the dust, which would mean teams would have to field 3 cars each, even then most teams have 3rd drivers they'd probably use over him.

McLaren have De la rosa and Paffet / Di Resta waiting in the wings, Ferrari have Badoer and Gene, BMW have Klien, Renault have Di Grasssi and Grosjean, Williams Hulkenberg etc.

how about the old renault m8's,get rid of piquet at the middle of the season,put button so it will be a 1-2 renault alonso-button

imo, not a good move. with possibly only 18 seats available on the grid, i think there are some more deserving drivers

Sutil might do better compared to Fisi with the move to slicks. He seems to go well when you're reliant on the mechanical feel of the tyres, which will be a little more important in '09.

Bit silly changing drivers for the sake of it when no-one really knows who's going to react well to the changes.

Well that... and Mallya basically saying, "Well McLaren let us keep our current lineup."

It wouldn't surprise me if their patience with Piquet broke, but I doubt they'd take on Button.

Flav might have learnt his lesson about re-hiring drivers by now :P

flavio would put Romain Grosjean in Renault and kick out Piquet, but he won´t put button on Renault again
