So the 2009 line up: Bourdais is officially confirmed by STR

Posted by BAR#10
Nick Heidfeld is contracted to BMW for the next season.

It's only after we've lost everything, that we are free to do anything.
Kubica most probably will remain with BMW, but Heidfeld is a big question mark. His pace this season hasnt been good and there were a lot of rumours about him being sacked.

His pace this season has been quite good, he just sucked the last few races, that's all.
Rosberg himself confirmed that he will drive for Williams in 2009.

Fast laps don't matter squat. Results do. Despite Heidfelds problems in qualifying, the standings are Kubica 49 and Heidfeld 41... hardly something that justifies sacking a driver.

Nick is a good driver, just remember the double overtake in Great Britain with rain... In Hungary started 16th, but he overtake 6 cars in a track that is impossible overtake one... and in Germany he set the fastest lap in race, it was 1:15.987 and he was the only driver that break the 1:16.000 mark

Why are people against heidfeld anyway. he had a couple of bad races yet is only 8 points behind his teammate. Nick is the main reason bmw became a front running team in the last few years and he could have won in canada if he hadnt let robert through to ensure the team got a one-two finish instead of ruining his teammates race by holding him up. Nick should be at bmw next year no worries.

And Alonso should also be in a ferrari if massa or raikkonen dont win this years championship because he would do a better job than either of the 2 have done so far.

Problem with heidfeld is that he had a lot of races to try to win. He has spent way too long time in F1 for it that we start to think that he is no winning material.

I think he'll end up with a few victories, two or three. But not more.

Thing is, when you're in weaker cars, you need things to fall your way. For instance, a freak win like Fisichella's at Interlagos in 2003 - it could so easily have been Heidfeld with those Bridgestones in that car. He missed that chance by a year.

He's only had the one chance to win that I can remember, in Montreal this year, and again it simply didn't fall his way. Had it been the other way around (Kubica on the 1-stop and Heidfeld on the 2-stop) it could well have been a different story. That's the only chance I can think where he's had the opportunity, and he was staggeringly close to pulling it off.

That's he's not had the chances to win shouldn't count against him.

Again though, he's no better than a strong support driver in my opinion.
I'm a fan of Heidfeld but I'd agree that he'd make no better than a strong support driver. Would be great to see him getting a win this year, not sure if he'll get a better chance in his career if the mid-field teams catch up with BMW next year.

We..? What do you mean we? Are you the spokesman for some anti-heidfeld club? If you are, please say so!

If not, using the words ME and I would be a lot more appropriate.

Wow lol... I just thought that it was the general consensus here...

There will be a lot of changes I think. Honda will bet hard for Alonso who wants to be at Ferrari though. Vettel to Red Bull, Senna to Toro Rosso, what about with Ferrari then? Kimi seems to be considerably demotivated I think. Heidfeld is failing too much in recent races (Magny Cours, HUngaroring...). But it seems Alonso has mot of the keys for important seats.

Heidfeld just can't get heat into the tyres, that the main which is hampering him, otherwise he's a force to be reckoned with imo. Remember last year, he was as good as the McLarens.

Between your post questioning Heidfeld, and your "we" statements, there are 5 posts. One of them is by you, commenting something else. There rest are in support of Heidfeld. On the previous page, no one has even mentioned Heidfeld. Where is your "general consensus"?

As far as I can see, at least in this thread, you are alone.

I'm surprised there aren't any rumours of Kubica to Ferrari (or are there?). He's not tied down to BMW next year and what with him being somewhat of a hot property I thought something would have surfaced by now.

Him and Alonso I feel will be the sought after drivers, once those two are confrimed someplace, everything else will fall into place. Second season running where alot depends on where Alonso ends up.

In other threads, MSN convos, conversations with other ppl with who I watch F1.

i don't think Alonso will go to Honda, they just haven't got any pace. Mario Theissen rates Heidfeld highly, so Nick will almost definitely stay, unless Kimi retires, which is unlikely, Ferrari will be unchanged, Kubica will stay at BMW, hopefully Bruno Senna will go to Toro Rosso.
