New on the Smoking Pen's Tracks Page are some screenshots of the nearly completed Homestead Miami Speedway. I've just got a few graphics bugs to iron out and some more testing before it's released. This version is the high-banked new-for-2004 track, but I intend to include a .dat file with the original lower banking for those with slower processors and/or fond memories of the Cha

Grand Prix 3 Yes, I'm planning to do both this year - and an F1 carset as well. It will be the usual full service - cars, performance files, tyres, team arts etc. I've got about halfway through the F1 carset and have performance files sorted for the first three Grands Prix and IRL races. It will take a while before anything is released, though, as I'm focused on completing my Homestead IRL t

Grand Prix 3 Jackie M - the only real difference between the two is the banking at the ends, which is now 20 degrees instead of 6. This severe amount of banking causes the PO to soar, especially on the first lap, so there is a real chance I might do two versions, (all with 2004 graphics), so that people with less powerful machines can use the track without watching the field go through turns 1 & 2 in slo

Grand Prix 3 In the works.... well, I've made a start on my F1 2004 carset, (but it's kind of foundered on the Toyota for right now - I hate that livery), there will be IRL and ChampCar carsets later on, but for right now, the next thing is likely to be an oval or two - starting with the new Homestead Miami Speedway.
I've always had this thing about the ovals - the banking command in GP3 doesn

Grand Prix 3 For some time, your Pen has been working on a twin pack of the long and short versions of the Paul Ricard circuit in the south of France, as used intermittently through the 70's and 80's for the French GP, before they moved to Magny Cours.
Marc Aarts version has a bug in it that meant I couldn't see the track coming off the last corner and this bug also affects the recent version

Grand Prix 3 Wait till you get the e-mail from yourself..... The latest viruses mask their true point of origin and instead look like they've from people in the address book on the infected computer. Alternatively, they make up a fictitious e-mail on a valid domain in the address book - something like <name>@aol.com
A good virus checker will weed them out for you, but I've lost count of the

Grand Prix 3 The long version of Paul Ricard is all but done - I will be adding the final touches to the graphics today, all being well. The short version is well underway - it needs a good cc-line adding and updated graphics to reflect the different sponsors, but that shouldn't take long to do. I'm hopeful that the whoel package will be done in a couple of weeks.

Grand Prix 3 Hernan Viglione was going to make St Petersburg, but the last track I saw from him was the Brands Hatch Indy circuit. I hope to make several IRL tracks over the coming season and Homestead will be the first of these.

Grand Prix 3 Your Pen has been quietly busy over the winter months slowly going insane..... First, I had a working layout of Brands Hatch Indy circuit, then Hernan produced his version. (I'd even been and got the Ordnance Survey map of the area at 1:5000). Rats! No point carrying on with that....
So I turned to winter track project 2, with which I have persisted. I have just this week finished addi

Grand Prix 3 PLay,
I wasn't able to work on this carset through the year, only over the last couple of months, otherwise I would have produced all of the variants, as I did with my ChampCar set. Like I said, consider this a series of sketches for next year. It would have taken a lot longer to produce all of the different cars, (although I did consider the Pink Panther - but then why do just that one a

Grand Prix 3 New at The Smoking Pen's GP3 pages is my Season 2003 F1 carset, available for both GP3 v1.13 and GP3-2000. I know there have been a number of carsets released recently, but I've been working on the darn thing for several months and wanted to get it out there. As I said in my earlier post, you guys win, by getting to choose your personal selection from the work available. Talking of t

Grand Prix 3 The graphic below shows 10 of the 11 cars that will feature in the Smoking Pen's F1 Season 2003 carsets for GP3v1.13 and GP3-2000. I'm in the process of sorting out the last few little glitches, but I'm using helmets provided by Vincze András Mihály and, unfortunately, he's suffered a HD crash which has set him back in providing the helmets for the missing 11th team. Grand Prix 3 Vader - himself is doing fine, as is the F1 2003 carset. It's pretty much done, barring the Toyota, which is driving me nuts!! I've done team arts as well, but I'm trying to source some helmets to include with the set, rather than have to do them myself, (I HATE doing helmets!!).

Grand Prix 3 New at The Smoking Pen's GP3 pages is the Surfer's Paradise edition of the 2003 ChampCar carset AND the second update pack for those running the GP3-2000 edition.
That rounds out the CART season for 2003, whichever version of GP3 you are running, so good and happy racing to you all. However, I thought you might like a little taster of what's coming next from your Pen........

Grand Prix 3 The link IS working - I've had e-mails from people who've downloaded it and it works when I try it. The problem only affected the GP3v1.13 in-game graphics, (the cars etc.), not the Team Arts or either of the GP3-2000 files. If it's still a problem, I don't know what it can be.

Grand Prix 3 Couple of points here..
First off, the #27 car, (the second Andretti Green one), will be driven in the GP3v1.13 set by Dario Franchitti, although the carset will come with helmets for all the alternate drivers. In the GP3-2000 set, it will be driven by Dario, Robby Gordon, (Indy only) and Bryan Herta - Dario will get to drive at Motegi, as Dan Wheldon has a full season of racing in my carset!

Grand Prix 3 It's been drawn to my attention that there's a bug in the GP3-2000 season carset, which can result in the cars having no wheels in external view, (it happens if you don't have the 2002 ChampCar carset installed). I've fixed this in the downloads, but if you've downloaded already, you can just get the CART03 Season Set by clicking on the link.
