Arrows Statement

Mixed reactions from us today. We have Wilson doing brilliant in 5th, expecially when he is under pressure. But then we have Trulli who is last. I know the weather conditions affected the result but I still expect Trulli to do better.
Great qualifying...I'm just concerned about performances under race trim.

Use the Custom Grid tool by Shaddix and simply re-run the race with the official grid;-)

My GPGSL Career
I don't mind Raikkonen being 12 seconds faster per lap...;), but seriously, I think option 2 would be better as lots of the smaller teams, mine included, have a big chance to get some points in race with the original qualifying results.

European Grand Prix Race Day

Hello and welcome to the 7th round of the 2004 Formula season. Current championship leader Rubens Barrichello starts the race from pole position whilst his nearest championship rivals were caught out by the weather in yesterdays qualifying session. He will be aiming to extend his championship as the five lights come on...

And we're away and the cars charge down to turn 1

But Heidfeld has snuck his way past Barrichello in turn 1, the German now leads in his home grand prix

Barrichello meanwhile holds off a challenge from Raikkonen for his 2nd place

Unsurprisingly Heidfeld sets the fastest lap

Da Matta has made significant progress from 21st and is in 17th behind De la Rosa

And in fact he gets better traction out of turn 1 to take the position

Wait whats this? Barrichello has pulled off the track...

...and the championship leader is out of the race!!! A suspension failure spells the end for Barrichello

Meanwhile Villenueve has gotten past Raikkonen for what is now second place

Meanwhile his team mate is battling with the Schumacher brothers for 10th

But Ralf holds them both off for now

Now with a few laps down here are the current standings

Wilson is still holding position in 5th place

Meanwhile Montoya is under pressure from Fisichella in the Renault

De la Rosa is the first man to spin off the track as he loses it in turn 11

He rejoins last

Glock is challenging Button for 16th

But the Brition shuts to door

Only to open it again after going wide on the entrance to the back straight

And he tangles with Takuma as Glock slides into 16th

Meanwhile Coulthard helps himself to Satos position on the exit of the chicane

Verstappen is under pressure from Da Matta going into turn 1

But the Toyota driver sails past the Dutchman

Montoya is now up to 6th ad is taking chunks of time out of Wilson

Up front it is still Heidfeld in the lead

Whilst McNish is having a look at Lotterer

And he outbreaks the German to take 12th place

His teammate is currently sitting pretty in 4th place

Lotterer goes wide on the exit of the chicane

And Da Matta and Verstappen take advantage of the error

Trulli is having a look at Coulthard with Button just ahead

But the Italian outbreaks the two of them down into turn 1

A very gutsy move there but it paid off for Jarno

Schumacher is now up into 9th behind Davidson

But his brother is off the road at turn 6

And he is lucky not to collect Verstappen

That error drops him right to the back of the field

Da Matta is battling with Alonso for 11th

And he outbreaks the Spaniard into turn 1

Unseen by the cameras Montoya is past both Wilson and Webber and is chasing down Raikkonen in 3rd

Meanwhile also unseen by the cameras Schumacher is past Davidson to take the final points position

Montoya is looking up the inside of Raikkonen

But the Fin, quite aggressively, slams the door shut

Villenueve kick starts the pitstop as he comes in from 2nd place

He's back out in 9th

Our leader is in the pitlane

As is Da Matta

Heidfeld is back out in 7th

Montoya is next in on the following lap

He is back out in 13th after a much quicker stop then pretty much everyone else

Schumacher is off the road again

And is again extremely lucky not to collect anyone

His brother is in the pits from 6th

Webber is our temporary leader as both he and Raikkonen are yet to pit

But Raikkonen peels off into the pitlane

Heidfeld is struggling to get past Fisichella who is also yet to pit

Meanwhile Montoya has got the jump on Raikkonen

Wilson is now up into 2nd albeit yet to pit

As Webber does

Meaning Wilson now leads the race

Whilst Montoya also jumps Webber in the pitstops

But Heidfeld has regained the lead as Wilson pits

As Verstappen also pits

Now with the first round of stops over here are the current standings

Verstappen is determined to get past Fisichella and he makes contact whilst trying to outbreak him into the chicane

As do Lotterer and De la Rosa

And then Davidson also helps himself to his teammates position

Da Matta is very wide in the final corner

And is lucky not to hit the barrier

And he only loses one position

De la Rosa is in the pitlane, looks like he is the only driver 1 stopping

And Button has gone straight on at the chicane

And he retires after a transmission failure

Alonso is fighting with Davidson for 14th

And he slides past going into turn 11

Heidfeld is still out in front

But behind him Montoya is past Villenueve and is chasing down the German, can he hold the Williams driver off?

The two BARs are locked in battle over 18th place

Wilson is trying to hold off Verstappen's Ferrari

But the Ferrari gets better traction off turn 12 and takes the position

Montoya is back in the pitlane

As is Raikkonen

Montoya is back out in 5th

Verstappen is now fighting with McNish for 6th

And he makes the move stick

And McNish immediately pits

Villenueve is now into the pitlane

And Montoya holds position ahead of the Canadian

And our leader is in the pits

And he comes back out just ahead of Montoya, can he hold him off till the end

Schumacher has pitted and is back out in 7th

McNish outbreaks Wilson going into turn 1

Coulthard has had a very quite race and he currently sits in 16th place

Meanwhile upfront Heidfeld is actually pulling away from the Colombian

Whilst Schumacher is looking for some pride by challenging De la Rosa for 18th

And he gets the job done on the run down to turn 1

With just 14 laps to go here are the standings

From out of nowhere Schumacher pumps in the fastest lap of the race

Wilson is doing well in 9th place

Before being immediately overtaken by Da Matta

De la Rosa is now battling with Sato

Just 4 to go now and Heidfeld has built a slight gap back to Montoya, its just a matter of keeping it on the road now...

But he's now into the chicane for the final time...

Round the final corner...

and Nick Heidfeld is a winner in Formula 1!!!

Montoya holds onto second whilst Villenueve completes the podium

Full results to follow...

2nd isn't bad,a bit of unluck with Rubens's retirement, but Ferrari didn't get too much advantage from that :-)

Minardi sign Christian Klien for 2005
Christian Klien's pace in Friday Free Practice sessions this season has seen him being offered a contract to race for the popular Italian minnows for the 2005 season. The deal completes Minardi's race driver lineup for next year, with them only needing a test driver. The deal is reported to be worth around £4m.

GP2 Star signs for McLaren
Current GP2 driver Nico Rosberg has secured a seat at McLaren for the 2005 season, completing an all German race driver lineup for next season. The move makes it seem very likely that both of McLarens current race driver lineup could be moving elsewhere and it is certain that at least one will be after the teams poor performance this season. It is rumoured that Arrows also put in an £8m to match the McLaren bid, but Rosberg felt that there was a larger potential for success at McLaren.

We were so close to getting points. But we actuallt led the grand prix. I never thought I would be saying that at Arrows this season. We are happy with both drivers. Wilson did his best to hang on but we were not fast enough and Trulli did well to fight through the field.
Very happy to have our first double points finish of the season and we are fighting far above our weight being 5th in the championship.

Jordan Statement

A good race from Kimi with 6th place, we knew that it would be nearly impossible to keep 2nd place if it doesn't rain. André also did well on the track, we're really happy with his performance till now.

Both drivers dropped down the field like proverbial stones. Not really pleased as I thought we could get some points here...

Sauber Statement

New Sauber boss Chris Copeman was ecstatic that Nick Hiedfeld had won the Nurburg Grand Prix and was quick to compliment the German, "Nick drove faultlessly today...I am so chuffed to have him on board for next season. We have a driver here that we can truly build a winning team around." Chris refused to be drawn on a team mate for Heidfeld for next year but said that the team were "still looking".

P.S. On that note, who do I send offers for drivers to?
