In other words, you forgot that I existed. Good to know ;)

I guess that's reasonable - Mal only put a single line down that I was going to drive for Lucky Seven ;-)

Cheers :)

Some pretty radical changes offered there, I think if some were implemented it would harm the series more than help it

I think thats the best way of putting what I was trying to say. I'm all for giving more opportunites for testers, but I simply can not see those suggestions helping the series at all.

those are some pretty heavy suggestions. I wonder could there be something done about the teams on the entry waiting list. I was told when I registered that teams had been waiting on the list for two years. How true this is I don't know and what can actually be done about people wanting to get in with their own teams I dont either but I think it is something that ought to be through into the mixing pot also.

You do realise we are fighting for the championship here right?

GPGSL WDC Season 4
I'm totally agree with team owners only manages!

One Racing driver and team manager
GPGSL-3: champion in 2007/2013/2014!
GPGSL-4: testdrivers champion in Season 11!
This is why we ask you to vote, it's a democracy, as participants you have a right to vote and have your say.
The GPGSL are looking at ways to get test drivers into the main series, to mix things up, or how to create a level playing field, or how to open up more seats for testers, they are only options at this point in time, things the GPGSL have discussed recently. Some of us think that if we don't make some changes, the same teams and the same drivers will continue to dominate the series, and the GPGSL would like to see everyone have a fair go. Some of the changes, if voted in would not be popular with some of you, however if an option is clearly voted in by the majority, the final say on implementation still remains with the GPGSL. At this stage, the GPGSL is opnly gathering information on public opinion. So there is no need to worry that the poll is set in stone, it is not.

There is a driver market, and it is only being used to its full potential by one or two team owners. This market is for team owners to use for their strategy, but what we see is the same drivers remaining in their seats throughout the entire season, with valuable test drivers not getting a chance to race and show the other teams their potential. This is one of the things we would like to change, the dilemma is how to do it, how to push the team owners into using the driver market? Can we force vacancies in the race market? What we have is nearly 44 drivers with 11 teams, and we are not keen to open another series because of the work load. As it is now, it is almost two series anyway, only missing is one session per event the way I see it.

I have suggested that the GPGSL run feature events for the testers, at the RD's discretion due to time contraints. These events would be run as a race event, including a qualy session. Points would be awarded to the testers only, as any race driver in the test field would theoretically be racing twice that weekend. This option would imho give the testers their chance to race, and have some increased gptv coverage.

A current problem we have is that all the work is being done by a committed few. Where are the guest race directors, willing to run and post the coverage? There isn't any! Running this series is a mountain of work for the GPGSL members.
It's not about us, it's about you guys and what's best for the series, how to keep it running so it does not stagnate and people start to lose interest. That's the number one issue on the minds of the GPGSL right now. VOTE, submit your ideas on what we could do.

Regarding the team entry list, it is true that some have been waiting for a long time, and there isn't much that can be done other than creating another series, and right now as I've already said, doing that would be the end of the GPGSL.
History has proved that to us as we had a similar situation when the WGP league was active. As more people wanted to join the WGP, the W300 was created, primarily as a driver feeder series to the WGP. Unfortunately, the W300 eclipsed the WGP, it failed as a feeder series, team owners did not use the driver market, (sounds familiar doesn't it?) and as a result, both series declined to the point where the tumbleweed rolled in and we had nothing.
There are five members in the GPGSL, and we can barely keep up with what has to be done. There is no chance that we would create another series just to reduce the team entry waiting list. We cannot force teams out to allow another in. Our hands are tied on that issue, unless someone comes up with a practical workable solution that is amenable to all.

no offense, mate, but I have to disagree here, I dont feel that way at all. EDIT: reffering to the reset question
i think with boost system this is a strategic competitive game to an extent so any result is ok.
also differences in starter perf are very small.

and need i remind all that Warrington was champion and VSM WCC, while MPR was last in season 1.
sorry john and vsm.:-)
but making a point that top perf does not necessarily you bring you up.

s4
1.difference between Houston's and Horvath's perf was 25 points with 600 range.
2. difference between TNR and Velox was 2 bhp.

that's starter perf. 24 bhp of boost was given to all teams, and 4x50 to drivers.

smaller/midfield teams could try to sign better drivers. that's a first step.
however it seems GP4 chooses one of these close perfs and gives it the edge anyway.tss didnt have best perf in s2, velox neither in s4.
if this was a no boost system i dare say mpr wouldnt be able to catch up. we did it with our strategy and luck.
/driver

as for s5
i'd thought of giving even more boost (40 bhp) so that any advanatge GP4 gives through races can be caught and even perhaps divide the scored points by more than 4 so less bhp can be gained during race to race.
than it'd be even more strategic and less edge. But best strategists will always adapt.

obviously you need a combo of strategy and luck that gp4 grants you and ofcourse good starter perf does not hurt, but it is not as essential as before.

also with our driver continuity formula i'd give those who havent been from start a bonus for missed seasons.

f.e. bolscher drove for 3 seasons out of 4, so i'd calculate his average from this three seasons and add those points for the missed season to his starter total.

i thought of a set different drivers boost as well from 80 to 30(not set of 4x50) points too..

I can't imagine this game without the team boost though.

It's early days Marko, and a lot of people will still want to have their say on any changes we might want to make for S5.
I think everyone would agree though, we do need to make some changes, maybe to the driver market, perhaps the boost system, team owners driving and how to involve the test drivers (feature races) or force ways to utilise them better than what is being done now.
