Anyone Help? Track Graphics Clipping ::INCLUDING FIX!::

Posted by TeamBPR
Hey Guys :)

Can anyone help with this weird problem? I get it on some tracks, old or new, and I can't think what causes it...

In case you don't know what I mean - trackside graphics like trees or buildings, etc. just randomly clip and disappear of get chopped in half - it's a real pain because as you drive along, some bits of scenery just disappear!

Anyone know what this is about!?

Thanks :)

What are your PC spec's?

It's happened on two different PCs, which makes me wonder if it's something to do with my F1Graphics.cfg but I'm not sure what...

But my PC is a E5200 3.75GHz, 4GB DDR3, GeForce GTS 250 with Win7 x64 and it eats GP4 for breakfast (Y) haha

I thought it might be a graphics card setting but doesn't seem to be...

Could it be something to do with DTX5, etc. etc.????

Thanks for replying :)

So there should be no prob's with those specs. Have you tried a clean install of gp4 and regedit clean out? I have the same Graphics Card, do you overclock it?
OOH!

I have fixed it, lol...

Ok the problem was this line in the F1Graphics.cfg:
7 ; Set 0 => no 8bit alpha (all stencil - yuck) 8 => all 8bit alpha (no stencil - nice) else 1-7 as cut off

If you set it to "8" you get weird things missing off the edge of the track and bizarre transparency effects, set it to 7 and everything works perfectly!! YAY!!

Such a relief, haha!
Sorry Fergy our messages crossed. All fixed now.

I don't overclock the GPU mate, do you? I have the CPU at 3.75GHz from 2.50 though and to be honest everything runs unbelievable. GP4 with all 2048 car textures, and LOD0 only, it just eats it up, don't get over 70% PO on the grid in the rain and then it drops to 7-30% PO everywhere else.

I cannot for the life of me get 2D/3D sound though, I've tried Alchemy, different sound cards and all sorts. Never mind it's a small price to pay!

Do you overclock your GPU then? I don't think I'll bother increasing the strain tbh, since everything works as well as it does :)

Thanks again for the help!
nice to see you here again btw.

Who, me? If so then thanks! It's nice to get back into GP4 - I haven't been able to run it for ages :(

So I got myself a new PC and my enthusiasm is back! Haha

I'm thinking about doing another soundpack for 2009/2010 engines, there doesn't seem to be that much development in the sound department!

The new cars that you guys have been working on are simply stunning - some fantastic authors around? It blows my mind to be honest how good some of these cars are - like Axels TEN packs of cars? LOL simply amazing. It would take me a year to make one car!

Keep up the good work everyone! :)
