VanSmirren Motorsports announcement.

At the end of November till probarly somewhere mid April, im busy moving places to germany. Because it might happen that id otn have any internet connection in the main time, i will have to transfer ownership to fellow dutch man and VSM tester Charrel Jalving. When i return in April i will be handed back the ownership of the team. In the meantime we would like to make a namechange for next season. (so no worries to this years mod ;))

My apologies for the full inbox lol!

I won't be home until tomorrow evening, so the boost deadline might as well be extended until tomorrow evening in case anyone has missed it due to my full inbox. All boost sent to the GPGSL account will be valid.

Cheers!

After the Hungaroring race, I will be stepping back and I will be active as a testdriver again for VSM. I hope to gain some good results as a testdriver for my perf file. Right now the weather is good in Hungary, and I am really looking forward to the race.

Since my manager and team boss Ricardo van Smirren will be away for a while, I will be taking over the duty as team-owner till he has sorted his problems. We see no problems in that for the last races. Everyone in the team knows what to do, so lets fight for more points!

Yesterday i had a discussion with my Teammate Rick Groeneboer. This was about the amount of points testdrivers are able to score. We think ( and i think everyone does ) that the advantage of being a testdriver is too big for youre perf stats.

Im just throwing something on the table but is it a possible sollution if testdriver score 60% of the points? so for example, a testdriver puts in a fastest lap he'll score 9 points. a testdriver who finished 12th will get 0.6 points. every .xx point could go into a pot. So for example you finished 3 time s on P12 you still scored 2 points. instead of 3. And you cant gain tooo many points if youre a top testdriver in a top car.

What are youre idea's about it? Please admins lets hear something from you :) POssible new rule for S4?

I think testers only score perf points for their quali perf and not for their race perf, so that definately does decrease the advantage. But your suggestion will be noted and we'll discuss it at the end of the season we we start discussion possible rule changes :)

No, if im correct testers score perf points for both qualy and race perf. so if youre 1st it tops 15 to both the qauly and race perf. Apologies if im incorrect here.

The idea behind it is more like in real F1 or any racing series a tester @ for example Red Bull (a top team) would not be a better race driver than a race driver for Williams (average team).

For example Badoer got his ass kicked like mad in comparison to a driver like Rosberg and even Nakajima.

I also like your idea Nick, but I still think that the amount of points that a tester can score, only if its just for qualy perf, should be lower considering the connection to real life racing series.

Perf points scored in test series are as follows:

1st Q-15 R-12
2nd Q-12 R-11
3rd Q-10 R-10
etc.

I seem to remember that the W300 used the same perf points system to the WGP, but when a driver moved up a level his perf was reduced by a certain amount.

5 x WCC - S5, S6, S7, S8, S10 | 4 x WDC - S5 Nick van der Voort ; S6, S7, S8 Ed Greenhalgh | 2 x WTC - S6 Stuart Ingers; S8 Andrei Sevastian
that was only when a driver went to the other series. so if a testdriver of the W300 (GP2) went racing in the W300 he kept the same perf. Would ANY of the W300 drivers move to WGP (F1) the driver would get his for example his perf 16010*0.95. would have been 15939. because WGP is supposed to be more difficult to tackle ;)

And from WGP to W300 (what should be easier to drive) would get the perf*1.1 or something

That mixed things up a bit. :-) The Hungarian GP will be run over the weekend.

A promising start to a weekend where hopefully I can make use of the driver boost.

A bit disappointing from Alpha, but its extremely close. 2 more tenths for Alex, and he would be up almost 10 positions.
