Tony, is there a mapping issue with the name of Gilles on the car? Notice that Villeneuve is distorted, and on your sig Gilles is distorted. Just noticed

Nice renders! I still drive the beta regularly, and its a blast.

Wow! nice mod. Absolutly impressive! Lil' question, how is it coming along with the tracks?

As far as news I think Tony has been concentrating on the DTM mod and finishing that up.

I believe a few surprises are in store in regard to `79 tracks, but can't say anything definite as it's all rumor to me at this point...

Yep, rumours to me too :p but good things are coming.
If anyone wants to help a little any feedback about the current mod (or even the rf version) would be a big help.
In the future the cars will be improved, a few things finished off and some tracks made - what else needs work? How are the perfs and physics?

From rF version:

Physics seem awesome, graphics are not at the highest because it was made a little while ago, but we forget that while playing. Most tracks are lacking visually by a bit. But still, one of the top 3 mods of all time, at least!

Perfs and physics seem good to me in the GP4 mod. Some engine sounds with a deeper Cosworth-like growl would be nice. The car graphics are good enough for me...

For GP4:


The cars are lookin' sharp, nothing wrong with it.

The physics are pretty good, you can drift without losing the car big time.

My only dislike is the engine sounds, it sounds pants and boring.

Imo it must be sounding like the engine sounds of the GP4 World GP2 World Series mod, those sounds are wicked.

About the tracks for the GP4 '79 mod, i've heard that Österreichring '79 and Kyalami '79 are in progress.

The sounds are the other major thing - they'll be redone alot.
The cars will mostly get new textures and some small bugs fixed. And I'll add the Kauhsen - theres alot of demand for a car that showed up twice and didn't qualify!

I have a video of the circuit of Dijon... but stayed knowing the work did not progress.
His author gave up!!!

Hmmm.... maybe we oughta change the menu music too. like put in some Who or Led Zepllin. You know, stuf from that time. The Menu music right now seems kinda too er.... space-agy for the mod.

I shall suggest Immigrant Song or Rock and Roll. I'd prefer Over the Hills and Far Away, or Fool in the Rain though . Or Baba O'Riley :D

Tony, I ended up making a Gilles Villeneuve helmet in 2048x512, would you want the psd to convert it to your shape, if needed ?


Edit: Briere took pics of it for me, he converted it to the 2006 Arai shape, I think. It messed up the visor though





the V at the back shall be made soon enough, but I can't ever find pics of it for 1979 especially
