Bought the iPhone 4 on Saturday and am really pleased with it :)

The screen is just amazing so much better than the 3GS, the battery seems to last a fair bit longer which can only be a good thing!

I wouldn't say it's worth queing up for to upgrade your 3GS ;) but it is a step forward and if like me you have never owned an iPhone before (just played on a friends) getting the iPhone 4 for that little bit extra £ is the best option.

Dammit... I've had mine ordered for nearly a week now... and still waiting for delivery. Though they did start taking orders again before their stock arrived.

I was quite lucky tbh, went to my local carphone warehouse and there wasn't even a que! Walked straight in just as they opened - oh haiii Vodafone 16GB iPhone 4! There was only 2 in stock and I got the first one :)

Yeah... I got the carphonewarehouse new stock email after I'd already ordered with Orange. But hopefully shouldn't be waiting too much longer now.

anybody know much about the HTC Desire? My 2 year iphone contract will be up in a few months and I'm merely exploring options. I must admit I wouldn't mind a fresh apple-free start....particularly after I made the severe booboo of updating to the iOS4 software on what is now an old model phone....very, very clunky, not to mention it took me about 2 hours to do on my computer! I also want to stab myself in the eye when it has syncing issues each time i've hooked it up to itunes, which is still as bloated a piece of software as ever. Strangely though, after all is said and done, I'm still content with the iphone. I think i'm Jobs' bitch.

I haven't used one, but from what I've read, if I was buying a replacement now, it would likely be the Desire. It's massively hyped - justified or not I obviously can't say.

There's a big thread at Hexus discussing the Desire if you want to discuss actual use of it. :)

Looks like it'd be around 3 or 4 weeks before I get my hands on my iPhone4. Despite ordering from Orange a week of so ago now... it's now clear that they started taking orders again without a solid delivery date from Apple of their new stock, they say they expect it "imminently" which is basically admitting that they don't know. Meanwhile the Apple website itself is predicting shipping times of 3 weeks.

It's looking like I'll have to renew my PAC before my phone arrives.

I went and got the Desire last month

Really not sure what to say, it's just an awesome phone

No issues with it at all, it's been easy to use, and the number of available apps is growing

Not going to lie, I queued for iPhone 4. Albeit in a que of 10 people at at Tesco extra at 8:30am :D. Love the phone, few niggles as the world and his dog has picked up on, but the display is gorgeous, and the camera is the best I've seen on a phone - coming from an iPhone 2g it's just *awesome*.

No.

Carphonewarehouse have got similar stock issues. It seems that o2 have some hanging around, but they're only serving upgrades to existing customers and i've moved from them to orange, due to orange having a greater network etc. I'm not reversing that decision for a stock issue.

It's not the waiting that annoys me anyway, it's being fed mis-leading info by the vendors. All to often they assure people stock would come "in a couple of days" problem is they don't know that. So if they don't know something then they shouldn't promise it.

It may have a greater network coverage on paper, but the signal strength varies widely due to them using seamless roaming from O2 and Vodafone to achieve such a large network map. To cap it off they have, and this is voted on many occasions, the worst customer support in history of ...anything, to the point where customers set up [www.orangeproblems.co.uk]

If you're getting mucked about on delivery date by Orange, is just because they're complete morons. You really are better off elsewhere.

Sounds like someone had a bad experience with orange! I'm looking forward to getting to them and away from O2, whose northern Ireland coverage is dismal.

And Jim, if you fancy trying Facetime, just send me a text.

I too have heard awful things about orange. My housemate used to be with them and every text he sent would go through at LEAST twice. And other times the text's wouldn't turn up at all. This happened for the entire 18 months of his contract!
