Rage Against X-Factor. Killing In The Name of for UK Xmas #1

Untrue, Amazon purchases do count.

did you see my edit?

there are a few versions of it on amazon, and people were saying just the 29p version won't count, only those above 40p would count. but it seems that even the 29p one will count.

they say this type of song isn't in the true spirit of Christmas.

Whereas of course Joe whatshisface's song continues the long tradition of Christmas-themed fun.
exactly.

the f/b group is just a few hundred short of 900,000! now if only every single one of them bought a copy we'd have it sewn up no trouble...

bought the 29p copy off amazon, can't install the Nokia player though, keeps failing. tried it a few times but it's not installing, others are having that problem too, they've written it on the f/b page wall.

If that turns out to be the case, Sunday will certainly be a dark day for music.
Like Muks says, this will have been about people talking the talk and joining the Facebook group but not walking the walk and actually buying the download.

RATM was 6000 ahead yesterday morning. Yesterdays sales numbers are not in yet, but should be 'leaked' today. I fully expect X-Factor to have taken the lead on Fridays sales, and then put the nail in the coffin on Saturday.

Of the 900,000 now in the group, fewer than 1/3 have bought the single. Annoyingly it only costs 29p for Amazon, or FREE for Nokias music application using the instructions provided. Yet people aren't even doing that.

What is disappointing to me is not that X-Factor will win. If it sells more records, then cool, it deserves the slot. It is the fact that people won't even protest the little things anymore, with as much as a 29p purchase. People in this country lie down and take everything they are told to take, and it's disappointing. People should protest important issues. Now people won't even protest the little issues, nevermind the big ones. That is the biggest shame, because it is what Rage was all about.

Dave, post a rousing speech on the Facebook page and see if you can whip the apathetic masses into action. ;)

I know I started off by saying I didn't care who got No.1, but I love a good story and this is an epic in the making.

Estimations now put X-Factor ahead by 12,000. Not a lot compared to the 900,000 on Facebook, but far too much considering how little people have actually done anything. I guess the problem with protesting (any version of it) is people don't care if it isn't free and easy.

I know I started off by saying I didn't care who got No.1, but I love a good story and this is an epic in the making.

Before this week, nobody cared who got #1 - and that was the problem. Because everything got locked out by people like Cowell. As another Rage song states, this protest was to "Take The Power Back".

I'm not even part of the facebook group, partly because I'm not even part of facebook. But I bought the rage single 3 times, once each from itunes, amazon and play. Epic fail on the part of facebookers tbh :P

But I always expected the sheer size of cringeworth to steal the march.

Finally managed to buy it. If I try and buy through all the normal places, I get redirect to Spanish sites, so I don´t think it would count. But you can definitely do it through the Nokia thing and it is Free.
Bought my copy!

We need more, Dave is there a way to message all those lazy peeps on facebook? :P

Just downloaded through the Nokia player, thanks for the tip-off.

Just to confirm, purchases from anywhere in the world still count, as long as they are made through the UK Nokia store?

just bought it off HMV, although it said i downloaded it when i haven't.

and bought it off 7Digital, paid by Paypal which is handy.

and off TuneTribe, also by Paypal.

and Tesco,

and We7 (had to create an account and top-up a minimum of £5 to my account before i can download anything, but it's a small price to pay for such a worthy cause!).

will try the Nokia one again later.

so i've bought it 7 times so far, everyone else do the same!

on the f/b wall there are links to each of the places i've just bought from.

Yes! managed to do the Nokia thing, although i can't find it on my computer anywhere, but i can play it on the OviPlayer. so that's 8 for me.

and the man who started this whole thing is going to be talking to Jo Whiley on Radio 1 sometime in the next couple of hours (her show is 1-4pm).

bought 2 live versions, 1 from amazon, the other free from Nokia, so i'm up to 10 copies.

this site allegedly has live tracking for downloads: Click

it will be a real sad state of affairs if after all this effort, we fail to get no.1. it will just highlight how powerful things like xfactor are, and how difficult it is to overthrow it.
