Rage Against X-Factor. Killing In The Name of for UK Xmas #1

Posted by DaveEllis
It's nice, isn't it.
It's also historic. Highest ever all-digital first week sale for a single, and first all-download Christmas #1!

When the corporate suits try every trick in the book to guarantee they get the #1, even down to slashing the price of their single, and you still beat them, you know you've got them pwned! :D

Wasnt listening but heard the guy who organized the protest has been offered a job by Cowell himself?

"Trulli was slowing down like he wanted to have a picnic" LOL
Yeah, Jon and Tracy. They declined the offer.

Well, as expected, Joe McDreary is at number 1 for New Year. What wasn't expected is that Killing is still in 2nd place. I thought sales would disappear faster than they arrived!
I reckon the Facebook faithful did enough to get the song so much publicity last week that the general public were exposed to the song, many actually liked it, and joined the bandwagon!

i would like to see the sales figures for this week.

and i bet the reason for KITN still being up there at #2 was the confusion over when the deadline for it to count for last sunday's chart was. some people kept saying you had until 6pm on sunday for it to count (although we know the official chart deadline is midnight, the 6pm deadline was for the Big Top 40 on some music channel, not the official chart), so they kept buying all day sunday. so those sales counted towards this week's charts instead.

and i love how Joe's fans were using the snow as an excuse for not being able to buy it. they could still have downloaded it the way the Rage supporters did all week, and if they really wanted to buy the CD, they would have found a way of getting to a shop through the snow! they just didn't want it enough, i suppose ;)

and the people criticising KITN for not being a Christmassy song, well neither is The Climb. some said Christmas day was ruined because KITN was #1, but who spends all of Christmas day only listening to the #1 single? it's not the law. Joe being #2 hasn't ruined anyones Christmas day, if you bought his CD you can listen to it on repeat all day long as far as anyone else is concerned.

RIP Jules, never to be forgotten. #KeepFightingMichael
If someone had their xmas "ruined" because X-Factor did not get #1, then they have some more serious issues that they need to deal with.
