Both drivers in the top 10 is a good beginning, hope we can move up some places on raceday!
Ide is not last!!
Great session, let's go for a top 3 tomorrow!
Junior Red Bull Racing Statement

Delighted with Wurz for 7th, definately an opportunity for some good points in this. Bernoldi will be pushing on for a good result, as our test driver Pavlovic may get a chance in the second round.

Not a good qualify for us. Hope in a good race

Terrible start to the season, can only hope for a much better performance in the race.

Well, the practice was horrible. At least Yuji Ide was able to show his real potential and the potential of the car in the qualifying. But generally it is fascinating how close the cars are.
Ide is good for a top 6 finish in the race. Marc Gene, however, is a big disappointment so far. It might happen that we give either Mathias Lauda or Bjorn Wirdheim a chance at the next race of the Asia Cup. Or let's say it's rather likely that every of these drivers gets a chance during the 3 races of the Asia Cup, not only to also give Bjorn Wirdheim some driving practice before the official start of the F1.

Great to see both drivers qualify in the top 10. We just need them to stay out of trouble and get a double points finish.

On another note, in future will it be 3rd drivers taking part in free practice along with a regular driver like the F1 series does?

Delighted with the teams first pole on the hands of Paffett, but disappointed withthe result Pantano achieve.it will be hard to keep kobayashi behind us but we will see, we spect Pantano to work his way up.
Sakhir Race Coverage
Welcome everyone to the first race of the GP2 Asia Cup 2004/2005 in Sakhir.

All five lights are on.

And we´re off to a hopefully good race.

And Rosberg is on a very good position heading towards turn 1.

He´s now right next to Paffett.

And he gets through!

And this is getting really full.

Kobayashi managed to get second, while Paffett fell back to third.

Carroll is now between the two Junior Red Bull Racing Cars.

Lopez gains a position by overtaking BCN driver Sharp

Yuji Ide spins!

And the regie cuts off to leading man Nico Rosberg

The two Sauber GP2 drivers managed to get in positions 4 and 5

Oh, that´s smoke coming out of Rosbergs car!

He is getting slower and Kobayashi overtakes him.

And now the Super Nova Car is burning! Rosberg should get out of the car fast

And he´s out. Very sad, as he was looking good so far.

Now Kobayashi is leading.

Kovalainen sets the fastest lap

While Montagny is looking to overtake Lopéz

And he got through! He´s in 10th position now.

Pantano is trying to overtake Lopéz now as well

Lopéz lost another position.

Here we can see the back of the field. 9 cars, really close to each other

Kobayashi now sets a new fastest lap

Ouh, Wurz braking wrong

He fell down to 8th now

After 3 laps done, let´s have a look at the current standings

Montagnys car is smoking!

And this should be a HiTech Racing car spinning

Montagny meanwhile is out.

Wurz trying to regain his position from Lyons now!

And he gets through.

Marc Gene setting a new fastest lap

And we see the top positions again.

Kobayashi running a bit wide.

But he manages to stay first.

Lyons meanwhile gets closer to Wurz again.

And Wurz runs wide in the final turn.

He get´s back behind Pantano and in front of Sharp

And Sharp gets through as well

Sharp is now looking to overtake Pantano

As the regie cuts off again. Well then, time for some standings.

And Kobayashi again sets a fastest lap.

While Wurz is braking too late again

And Lopéz passes him.

As did Gene and Prémat

And Kovalainen seems to have lost some time here

While Ide managed to get closer to Piquet Jr.

Doornbos running a bit wide here.

And now Ryan Sharp sets the new fastest lap

Seems like Richard Lyons has some problems with his engine as well.

And in turn 24, Dornboos and Carroll are the first ones to get into the pits

And Carroll manages to get out in front of Doornbos!

And now leading driver Kamui Kobayashi pits

And he gets out in again in 13th position

Now Paffett pits as well. Let´s see where he comes out.

Meanwhile Kovalainen has taken the lead.

And he gets in together with Bernoldi and Pantano.

Now Ide is leading. But as he hasn´t pitted yet I don´t think this will last for long.

Now that´s what I call traffic.

And Paffett seems to have come out in front of Kobayashi.

Yes indeed he did!

Back here Wurz tries to overtake Gene for 14th.

And again the regie cuts off...

Now Ide is in the pits. Paffett is now leading in front of Kobayashi

And Ide comes out in 14th again.

With 20 more laps to go, let´s have a look at the standings again

Ide is now fighting with Bernoldi for 13th place

And now this is weird. Gene behind Wurz and in front of Ide.

And Prémat overtook Ryan Sharp.

And Ide is getting closer to Wurz fast

Pantano seems to have lost some time somewhere.

While Ide is closing the gap to Wurz

And he overtakes Wurz with only 6 more laps to go!

With only 5 more laps to go, let´s have a last look at the current standings

And Kovalainen got close to Kobayashi. This will be interesting!

As is this: Pantano overtakes Sauber GP2 driver Robert Doornbos

And he´s getting away pretty fast!

Prémat gets closer to Campos driver Vilander

3 more laps to go and Kovalainen is only 0.5 seconds behind Kobayashi.

And Paffett is still first while driving the last lap.

Kobayashi is still in front of Kovalainen.

Last turn for leading driver Gary Paffett.

And Paffett wins the first ever GP2-Series Race!

Kobayashi gets in as second while Kovalainen manages third.

Super Nova Racing driver Adam Carroll gets 4th

While Bernoldi gets 5th and Pantano gets 6th.

Doornbos and Lopez are the last two scoring points.

Can Artam signs with Sauber GP2
Newest Facebook post of Can Artam: "Wow! I really didn´t think I would get a GP2-Series seat for 2005. But a few days ago the Sauber GP2 Manager contacted me. And now I can officially announce, that we signed a contract worth £0.5m!"

Campos Racing signs 3rd driver
Many reporters were surprised, as Giorgio Mondini was sitting next to Franck Montagny and Toni Vilander in the press conference of Campos Racing. It was there that both sides confirmed that Mondini will have a place in the next years GP2-Series. The contract is said to be worth around £2.2m.

Also about test drivers
I think, this should be up to everyone on his own, as only 3rd drivers are optional. I´m thinking of 3 possibilities:
1. Your F1 drivers are driving both friday tests and races
2. One of your race drivers is sitting out every friday test and your 3rd driver will take the role
3. Your 3rd driver will replace one of your race drivers responsively (Force India model)

If you want to use another model, you are free to do so. Just post which model you wanna use. If you don´t post anything, I´ll stick with the first model for you.

Cheers :)

Double Points finish on debut delights team

We're really pleased with the job we've done today, although it would have been nice to have got the win, but we lost out in the pit-stop stage by coming out in traffic.
Kamui did a superb job throughout, and after a shaky start Lopez did well to come through and claim a point - if this had been a full weekend, we'd have been on pole for the sprint race, which bodes well.
Both drivers have deserved another shot, and will both take part in the forthcoming meet at Fuji for the practice sessions and the race. Benoit will then get a go in the final practice and race in Shanghai in place of Lopez.
It feels great to finally see this up and running, great work Reve (Y) Also excellent coverage although if I may nit pick I would recommend disabling the defpanel in GPxPatch mainly as it gives away each cars fuel load, but apart from that it was very good :)

Forgot to say - Excellent coverage Reve-san - really felt the story of the race.
Bitterly disappointed when Rosberg's engine blew. Very impressed with Adam Carroll's drive today, it gave something for the team to smile about this race.

*sues Mercedes*

Loved the coverage, btw.
Isport press release

We are so happy with our first showing, a win for Pantano and 6th for Pantano, we got some luck as Nico's car went up in flames. We sure look good and Paffett looks great!! Keep it up guys.

A great start of the season, Kovalainen showed his talent for 3rd place and Doornbos took some places from 10th to 7th.

On another note we´re happy about signing Artam and he will replace Doornbos for the qualifications and races at the Asia Cup.

Sakhir wasnt a complete disappointment. Our race pace was reasonably good. Shame about Frank retiring, but Toni did good. Maybe the pressure of being replaced by Mondini forced him to push?

As already said, Giorgio Mondini has signed a contract with us. He will drive fridays with Montagny and he will also drive some races that are yet to be announced. Therefore he is sharing the driver 2 role with Vilander.
Red Bull Racing Junior Press Release

"Absolutely delighted with 5th place for Enrique [Bernoldi], scoring the teams first ever points, and a storming drive from 12th. Disappointed with Wurz, someone of his experience should not be making so many mistakes, however these drivers will both be in the car at the second round of the Asia Cup, in Fuji. Pavlovic may get his first chance in Shanghai, but we shall make that decision in due course."

-Well done Reve-san in getting the series underway, brilliant coverage as well. keep it up!
