@Lo2k:

Can I create kerbs only for track? I tried to add some of them to the pitlane but it is not possible - I only can add kerb description but there are no kerbs:(

You have to create kerbs manually for the pitlane

Does anybody know if detaching face to another part in 3D editor 17.6 causes problems?

I experience a CTD (loadingbar is at 100%) with my adelaide track
After some testing I found out that the .gp4 causes the trouble.

So is detaching in v 17.6 forbidden? Should I do all the detaching in 3DS max?

EDIT : After some more testing I finally found the reason of the CTD.
It seems the horizon objects (panoramic backgrounds) caused the error.
I don't know why (I only exported them from the original melbourne track, and reimported them into the adelaide track. - I did place them into a new scene.)
Are there rules for placing objects in specific scenes?
Are the number of scenes limited?

@Zjokke:

Export object to GP4 or 3ds after detaching faces and then quit 3dEditor.
Start again 3dEditor and delete old object then import new object to scene.

ok thanks for the quick reply, but what's the reason behind this?

I have also problems if i detach many faces to more than one different part, it also causes CTD. But as i mention before exporting & importing object solve CTD problem. (maybe Lo2k can fix this bug in next version of 3dEditor?) :)

after detaching faces.....save & exit 3d editor.....re compress track wad ,then run gp4....it will probadly ctd.....re open 3d editor & open your wip .gp4 track file.....make no changes just click save & exit...re compress track wad...run gp4 ..no more ctd....i've done this method hundreds of time & it works.....

Yes sometimes one have to re-open the .gp4 and save it again to make it work.

yep....this method works everytime for me.......

@zjokke

Are there rules for placing objects in specific scenes?
Are the number of scenes limited?

zepplin 101 had some useful information on this....you need to stick with certain
object types in each scene...

amount of scenes varies from track to track...i always used hockenheim slot because it seems to allow more changes to the standard track limits...maybe has something to do with it being the only gp4 track outside the gp4 world boundaries limit.....it seems the most stable for results......

Is it necassary to have kerbs on your track if you want to add your track and pits into a (new) scene of a gp4 file?

Cos everytime i try i get that annoying error message.

My Grand Prix 4 Files

I'm a total dick. How many people can say that?

the wise man zepplin 101 told me before.....add the track & pitlane in one scene..& add the kerbs in a seperate one....you need to add the kerbs in a scene to make the graphical side of the kerbs visible...(ie) in game...also..if you are recieving an error message as you add the track /pit lane to a scene, it usually means you have a problem with the dat file....

@Lo2k/others:

Is the lod distance for track objects only significant for onboard cameras as the T-Cam, Cockpit-View or the other camera slots on the page-up/down buttons? Or is it also relevant for the trackside-camera?

The point is that normally a lod distance of 400-500 m is enough when using a onboard camera but the trackside cameras often provides an huge overview of the track so that you get to see objects which are far away, too.

I'm not 100% sure if object lod distance is also used for track cameras but track cameras have also their own close and far distance before/after which they do not display objects anymore.

Yes, I ran one test. Trackside cameras also have this distance which is related to the lod distance of an object set in the .gp4 but it is not the same as from onboard cams.
