Very decent result with 7th and 9th :) Too bad this doesn't give a picture to performance in equal conditions for everyone! Hopefully we can move up :) we are much happier then last races after qualy at the least!! :)

GPGSL Rd 15 French GP – Race Day

Part 1

Welcome back once again to Magny Cours, as we get set for the start of the French GP. We had a wet track during qualifying, which threw up quite a few surprises. In the end, it was Matteo Scala who managed to set the fastest time to take pole position. Let's head trackside as the cars are now returning from their warmup lap. Matteo Scala will start from pole. Jake Legge is alongside him on the front row. Weather reports shows no sign of rain, but anything can happen.

The cars are all lined up on the grid, and are waiting for the lights to go out. And what's this? It is raining, and yet all of the cars are on dry tyres. This will be a interesting start indeed.

And off they go. Scala takes the lead, and Legge looks to go with him.

But Legge now has to defend from Greenhalgh in the AMR.

Legge failed to hold Greenhalgh back, and has to defend from the other AMR of Maverick.

The AMR and Demon are side by side.

Heading down to the hairpin, the field is tightly bunched together. This could be a problem for a few drivers.

There is contact made in the middle of the field, and it looks like a front wing has been broken. And Cartwright in his SCR seems to be in trouble.

And here's why. Cartwright's SCR has been hit hard in the rear and has lost a wheel. And the other drivers have to take evasive action.

Cartwright's SCR is now causing a traffic jam. There's only space to go around on the left, and so everyone has to wait to get by.

Onboard with Jalving, and it looks like his front wing is gone. Which means he was the one who ran into the back of Cartwright. He'll need to pit for a new front wing, and this has effectively put him out of contention for a good haul of points.

Greidanus has moved up to 13th after starting 16th.

Somogyi in his Demon heads a queue of cars in the back half of the top 10.

The marshals have finally pushed the stricken SCR of Cartwright off the track. A very unfortunate end to Cartwright's race.

Scala leads from Greenhalgh, and it appears that Legge was able to hold back Maverick. Very good driving from the Demon driver to have held off a AMR.

Scala sets the fastest lap.

But loses it straight away to Greenhalgh.

Scala, Greenhalgh, Legge and Maverick make up the top 4.

Jalving finally makes it back to the pits, having lost a lot of places.

Scala, current race leader.

Greidanus now up to 12th.

Chris Warrington in the second Scuderia Minardi VSM heads the sole remaining SCR of Joseph Gilson.

Hunsley in the second MPR is seen in between them.

ONE's Carlos Rodriguez heads through as Scala takes the fastest lap back.

Rear view looking back from Pedersen's Christel shows how close Van Renselaar is to the back of his car.

The rear of the field.

Onboard with Van Renselaar.

Van Renselaar is very close to Pedersen.

He pulls out from Pedersen's slipstream and goes for a pass attempt.

But Pedersen was able to hold Van Renselaar back heading into the hairpin.

Jalving in last place.

Legge still holding back Maverick.

Scala sets another fastest lap.

Kederer currently holding a top 10 position.

Van Renselaar is the meat of the Christel sandwich.

Scala leads Greenhalgh by 1 second.

Here are the current standings as of lap 4.

Greenhalgh currently in 2nd.

While Legge and Maverick hold 3rd and 4th.

The TNR of Owen Edwards currently sits in 5th.

Steer sits in 6th, but has the Demon of Somogyi behind him.

Hinz starting to develop a queue behind him.

The battle is still on between Pedersen and Van Renselaar.

Connor Steer in his Snake. Just out of the shot is Somogyi in his Demon.

Monaco GP winner, Norbert Horvath, holding off Greidanus in his Shadow.

Scala sets yet another fastest lap. He is starting to stamp his authority on this race.

Greenhalgh trails Scala by 1.5s.

Legge trails Greenhalgh by 3 seconds, and behind him are Maverick, Edwards, Steer and Somogyi.

Hinz in his MAC Racing car sits in 8th.

Pedersen still holding off Van Renselaar.

Elleker in the second Christel can only sit back and watch.

We must take a short break now. We'll be back soon with more coverage of the French GP.

GPGSL Rd 15 French GP - Race Day

Part 2

Welcome back to the French GP.

We come back from the break to see Greenhalgh off the track. Reports coming in are saying it's suspension failure for the AMR.

With Greenhalgh's failure, that has promoted Legge and Maverick up to 2nd and 3rd.

Maverick is 0.5s behind Legge.

Greenhalgh is out of the race, and the reports were correct. A suspension failure for the defending champion.

At least Scala can breathe a sigh of relief now that Greenhalgh is out of the race.

For Legge to have a chance to challenge for the lead, he needs to pull back 5 seconds.

Warrington has closed the gap to Silvestre. Seems the cameras have missed what happened to the MAC Racing driver which has allowed the Minardi to close in.

As a result, Silvestre is starting to form a queue behind him.

Maverick in the sole remaining AMR.

Hunsley chasing down Warrington.

Maverick closing in on Legge.

This doesn't look good. Maverick has run wide.

Rejoins the track, then runs wide on the other side.

There's a broken piece from a front wing. Looks like Maverick was hit by Edwards who was behind him.

And it seems to be the case, as Edwards has a broken front wing.

Edwards does his best to try and get back to the pits, but he needs to stay clear of the race line as Somogyi has to go the long way round to avoid making contact.

Edwards must have hit Maverick quite hard. He has no power under him, and brings the car to a stop, while still on the track! This is a very dangerous situation as anyone could possibly hit him.

And Maverick has no power either. He pulls over on the side of the track. Disaster for AMR.

The marshals are quick to move the stranded TNR out of the way.

Where Maverick pulled over, it is a long walk back to the pits for the AMR driver.

Van Renselaar and Pedersen are still going at it. Only 0.1s separates them.

Gilson having a quiet race.

As Greidanus heads through the chicane, there is a marshal with a yellow flag. Yet there is no yellow flag situation.

Horvath sitting in 8th, after the retirements of both AMR's, and his teammate.

Kederer chasing down Brunner for 6th.

Up front, Steer currently sits 3rd. But is 4 seconds behind the Demon of Legge.

Scala has a firm grip on this race as his lead is over 6 seconds.

Here are the standings as of lap 11.

Somogyi in battle with Steer for 3rd.

Hinz currently in 5th, but has a queue of 4 cars behind him.

Here is Rodriguez in his ONE.

Hinz has gotten closer to the back of Somogyi's Demon. Did the Demon driver make a slight error?

Pit stop action has begun. Race leader Scala is first in for his stop.

This gives the lead to Legge.

Scala rejoins the track in 7th.

Van Renselaar heads into the pits.

As does Elleker who was behind Van Renselaar.

Steer sits in 2nd, 5 seconds down from Legge.

Plenty of pit stop action taking place.

Pedersen up to 8th, but still needs to have his pit stop.

Greidanus on the back of Horvath.

Greidanus pulls out of the slipstream, and goes for the pass.

But couldn't make it and stays behind the TNR.

Van Renselaar in 18th, and he is behind Elleker. Elleker must have jumped him in the pits.

Silvestre is in the pits.

So too is Warrington.

A battle between MAC and VSM in the pits. Who will get out first?

VSM wins the pitlane battle, and Warrington gets out in front of Silvestre.

As Warrington exits the pits, Jalving is entering the pits for his scheduled stop.

Silvestre was unlucky enough to emerge from the pits right in front of Hunsley.

Hunsley, on warmer tyres, goes for a pass attempt.

But fails to get pass, and has no choice but to stay behind.

There's more racing to come, but for now we must take another short break.

Yeah, terrible curse! Haha

I have a sneaky feeling AMR will not be running the Gulf livery again ;)

5 x WCC - S5, S6, S7, S8, S10 | 4 x WDC - S5 Nick van der Voort ; S6, S7, S8 Ed Greenhalgh | 2 x WTC - S6 Stuart Ingers; S8 Andrei Sevastian
What looked to be a good race for AMR but a bad one for my title hopes turned into a solid one for AMR and a really good one for my title hopes...just to be fully destroyed! This gulf livery simply doesn't seem to bring any luck!

I thought I could, at least, secure P2 in the championships here. And after Ed's unfortunate out, my title hopes were suddenly very alive again! What a crap...and a very bad tribute either!

Both AMR's out is what the championship needs.

My GPGSL Career
GPGSL Rd 15 French GP - Race Day

Part 3

We welcome you back once again to the French GP.

Legge is in the pits for his stop.

Steer pits as well.

Leaving Somogyi in the lead of this race. Kederer heads into the pits as well.

Scala goes by as Legge heads outs of the pits.

Legge and Steer rejoins 3rd and 4th.

Pedersen right behind Steer.

Kederer, having taken his stop, now sits in 6th.

Silvestre heads Hunsley and Gilson.

Somogyi heads to the pits for his stop, and relinquishes the lead back to Scala.

Legge goes by into 2nd.

And look at this! Demon were able to service Somogyi quicker, and he is now in front of Steer. Demon now sit 2nd and 3rd.

Despite having taken his stop a lap earlier, Steer couldn't get close enough to have a chance to pass.

Greidanus sitting in 8th.

Pedersen down in 17th, and now behind Van Renselaar after having his pit stop.

Now that everyone has taken their pitstop, here are the current standings.

Somogyi has pulled away slightly from Steer.

Onboard with Legge, and there is no sign of Scala who is 7 seconds out in front.

Hinz and Horvath down in 6th and 7th.

Elleker giving Rodriguez a hard time.

Jalving down at the rear of the field.

Kederer holding down 5th.

MAC's Silvestre just outside the top 10 in 11th.

Gilson goes through as the camera focuses on Elleker and Rodriguez.

Van Renselaar currently in 16th. Pedersen is behind him about to enter the final chicane.

Kederer is slowly reeling in the Snake.

The second Snake of Brunner sitting in 8th, holding off Warrington. Horvath is behind them, but a while ago he was in 7th. Looks like the camera missed what happened to the TNR driver.

One lap later, and Warrington has gotten closer to the back of Brunner.

Legge has taken a bit of time out of Scala's lead.

Looking back from Steer's Snake, and it appears that the Shadow has run wide.

It's Kederer, and he has spun the car trying to get back to the track.

He rejoins in 17th. A top 5 result thrown away in a spin.

As a result of Kederer's spin, Hinz is now up to 5th.

Brunner seems to be struggling slightly, as a queue is starting to form behind him.

Lap 24, and here are the current standings.

Both ONE's and Christel's battling near the rear of the field.

Onboard with Somogyi, as we see the current top 10 placings.

One final break, and when we come back we'll find out who our winner will be. Stay tuned.
