As much as I'd like to see Schumacher back, Williams and RBR/STR are correct. Other drivers have been denied the right to test, and whilst STR brought the situation on themselves (by sacking Bourdais), Ferrari had 2 drivers who have already driven the car. They may be worse options, but they didn't have to go with Schumacher.

actually i dont think the lack of testing will hurt schuey so badly. he's already shown twice that he can be on top even without any experiance in F1 , or without testing a loong time .
by saying that i mean the 1991 belgian gp... no f1 experience, no SPA FRANCOSCHAMPS eperience (he only had only lap with a bike ) and a great result.
8 years later , broking his leg , not driving for 7 gp's (from Silverstone to Nurburgring ) and still , coming back and setting pole position with what was it ,,,,,, a second ahead of the second one :D :D .

P.S. just to mention : yesterday i was reading in wikipedia something about F1 's history , and i found out that in mid 90's (actually in the middle of the season 1995) there was a famous phrase :
" "there are 2 things you should not do in this world, box with Tyson or go racing with Schumacher" "!!! :P

i also hope he'll be racing at monza . The fanatical italians surely miss him , + ferrari dont have a win there since he retired . Imagine him winning there .... probably the fans will go crazyier as in '96 :P ....... oooooh i just cant wait ( i reallly like felippe , but i hope michael races in Italy)

My outstanding memory of Schumacher is the 1999 Malaysian GP. Nobody had ever driven on the circuit before, and Michael himself had not driven a car for 4 months having broken his leg at Silverstone earlier in the year. He returns to F1 after such an absence, at arguably one of the most physically demanding tracks of the year, and sticks it on pole by over a second.

Very similar situation here. IIRC the Valencia officials are making some changes to the circuit anyway, in light of last year's dull race? If so, Michael will not be at any significant disadvantage to the rest of the field IMHO.

True. Imagine him putting it on pole by a second again ;) although his machinery will not allow it.

For the record, I don't think he must be allowed the tests with the F60 beforehand. Nor do I think he will need it. 100 laps in free practice on friday and say 30 on Saturday should be more than enough.

It'll be interesting to see how he copes with a car not designed for him. It's often said he had a unusual driving style. I just hope Ferrari don't revert to their old ways and forget completely about Kimi. A proper battle between them in similar equipment, wherever in the order they may be could be fantastic. If Ferrari are on their game by Belgium, Spa could be an epic. :)

The 2008 was designed for Kimi and Felipe, yet Schumi blew away the whole field in pre-season testing.

Prost blew the whole field away in 2001 pre-season testing. I'll reserve my judgement until racing. :) As it happens, I expect Schumi to do good.

has anyone noticed that ferrari had not won in Italy / Monza before schuey came . Their last victory at Monza was in '88 but it was qiute a lucky one with senna dropping out a 2-3 laps before the end only. Then michael came and... what was it ... 1996, 1998,2000 , 2002 , 2003, 2004, 2006 all those years it was ferrari wining there.
THen he left and stil.... no victory for Ferrari at home soil.
I can barely imagine what will happen IF he crosses the start finish line there first :P
or mabe at least set pole position..

One's for sure.... it will be a hot hooot summer :P

It was entirely a coincidence. ;-)

They ought to have won in 1994 and 1995 but for appalling luck. It's certainly not through a lack of pace. And 2008 was just a lottery.

Ferrari blasts Williams over test snub

Ferrari has accused rival team Williams of showing no sense of fair play in its refusal to allow Michael Schumacher a special familiarisation test in the Maranello squad’s current car.

A news item entitled 'Indiscretion' read: “Guess who opposed the test with the F60?”

“A team that hasn’t won anything for years and yet didn’t pass over the opportunity to demonstrate once more a lack of spirit of fair play.

Just for the record, the Scuderia Ferrari had given its approval to let Alguersuari test, but it seems even in this instance someone decided to stick to the precise wording of the regulations.”

Oh dear...this is all starting to get rather schoolboyish.

And I say fair play to Williams for blocking it. They had every right to. After all, where was Ferrari's fair play at the US Grand Prix in 2005...?

Well I agreed with Ferrari's view then; I agree with Williams' now.

I can see were Williams are coming from, they cannot test so why should anyone else be able to but at the same time Schumacher has had no experiance in the car so maybe they should be fair and let him test but they have no obligation to agree.

Yeah that was my first initial thought. How does a rant like that make it onto Ferrari's homepage? That sounds more like a Facebook entry an angry employee would make.

Because it's Schumi. Apart from discerning F1 fans like ourselves, the vast majority of people are now just going to think that Williams are a bunch of wankers. Of course, Ferrari have kept themselves clean by not even mentioning Williams and letting others name the names.
