Yeah but he's never really been in favour with McLaren, and I think they'd pick Kubica or Rosberg over Heidfeld. If McLaren really wanted him, they would've signed him when Hakkinen or Raikkonen left.

Heh, well, if you ask me, I'd say Kimi is better than Nick. No doubt about it. Also, if Alonso leaves McLaren, they have drivers to fill the space without having to go to other teams. They'll probably put a driver that can be a safe 2nd driver for Hamilton instead of pursuing another internal fight like this year.

agreed, it seems to me a top team really needs a well defined no1. and no2.

mika, david etc etc etc

if alonso did leave i think he'd end up at BMW who i think will be very competitive next year (they need a gun driver), with mclaren goin for someone happy to be no2.... if alonso leaves that is.

Different time, different situations also. For two great drivers to work alright the drivers must be really calm and relaxed about it, nowadays at least.

I was waiting for someone to say that But the comparisons with that and 2007 are unavoidable. A different class of driver IMHO, but still the exact same problems arose. It's only taken Alonso one year to get hacked off though, as opposed to 2 with Prost, because he's younger and not as mature.
