Off-Topic how is a cable more complicated? you plug a network cable in... it works, but with a wireless card, you have to install the drivers, setup security, then connect (and hope that nothing is interfering with the signal)

I'm just guessing that the W7 drivers are based on 8.12 but with the added WDDM 1.1 bits, which is why it affected both OS's
