I guess you guys might have had a inkling that i will be having problems due to my ancient pc. ;)

Guess what, i am :p

NTLDR is missing: Found a solution which said that the drive has to be fully clean if installing using a CD

Burnt the ISO through IMGBurn and got an error saying

CDBOOT: Cannot boot from CD-ROM Code: 5
after a search through Mr Google, found this

[jowie.com]

however, that talks about Vista x64. would it work with Win7?

Got it working!!! :D

Tried a different approach by using my XP Pro CD and installing that onto the old HD and then upgraded it through Windows. Works bloody brilliantly! :D

Edit:

Anyone know how to get the Aero features working in the Beta?

Could try shoving some chips in the graphics slot. It might help. Certainly won't hurt performance.

The below was indeed fixed with 9.1 (released today), but I've no idea if the W7 preview drivers have been updated yet (I don't have W7 at home yet) to include these fixes.

Might take a while for them to hit Windows Update. Just get them from the AMD site (if they have indeed updated the W7 ones yet - being just preview drivers they might not roll them out at the same time as all the other ones).

//edit: The latest W7 drivers on the AMD site are still the 8.12 based ones.

7 was very good, made vista look reeeeally rubbish, but i just decided to see if i could get xp working on this comp, and it runs really fast and all my games, software and hardware work flawlessly so i'm sticking with xp!!

Quick question:

Will games (like GP4) work on Windows 7 beta?

Thanks.

Well, after having Windows 7 for just over a week, I can definitely say: I love it! I think it's brilliant, but maybe that's just me. Few little things I'd like to see on the final release (like tabs in the window browser) I think it's good.

I'm still happily using XP over here since I went back to it in January! I got myself a new 500GB hard drive and stuck XP on that, sod Vista. I may find myself giving Vista another go once SP2 has been released, but if not I imagine I'll go straight from XP to 7, providing 7 continues to make the right noises.
